You would think not .......
Posted this in moaners as its more a mini moan about moaners, and just wish people would take the time to actually think.
Shows and Show organizers try very hard to please all competitors.
But what you need to understand is you are one of many competitors, and you cannot be individually baby sat and have to take some responsibility yourself.
Its such a thank less task running a show be it a riding club or a county show.
And we try to make ours as easy and straight forward as possible.
Sadly we find its a loosing battle, when competitors just cannot follow simple signs & directions.
We give not before times where possible, they mean just that and not that they will start early.
My pet hate is will it clash or can you tell me roughly how long ermmmmmmm No.
If i tell you how long and its Longer or shorter you will lynch me either way.
Will they clash .... how long is a piece of string ?
Oh so many in this class it will take this long, theoretically yes, but again we are not psychic and don't know how many will actually come forward.
Don't rely on calls for classes, most don't listen to tannoys anyway.
Everything is there in black & white in the schedule, don't rely on what class your Friend tells you to enter, then when its all gone wrong and you have entered the wrong class, its rejected .....
So if you are a telepathic, Psychic, Multitasking, Broad Shouldered, Not Easily Offended, Patient, doesn't mind calls from 6am in the morn until midnight, doesn't mind being shouted at, has good security guards, a large dog and a can of CF spray then running a show might just be for you.
Very lucky at the big show this year very few complaints, and of those were primarily missing / clashed classes.
But very few written praises, except electronically on here.
Its all well and good moaning about a riding club show or any show on the Internet, but actually its very lazy, if you want to make a true point, don't email, face book message or pm, prove you can write and put pen to paper VERY soon after the show, we wont entertain complaints made weeks after the show day ...
Hopes that's all understood, not a gripe about any particular show i am involved with more a question of the topic, because in the next 10 or so years, with the abuse etc going the way it is, very few people will want to be involved in the organization and set up of shows .........
What happened to manners ? I have a family with 2 lovely children that attended the shows regularly, win loose or draw, they come and tell me about their day and thank the team for a nice day out, including in the pouring rain, howling wind and 90 degree heat, and you know what without people like this ( and the very nice lady who always brings me a bottle, that she knows isn't necessary though appreciated) it would be far less pleasurable.
No doubt some will rant and rave and write on their face books walls the mad show secretary is at it again moaning, well NO read it its not a moan its a polite request for all those that enjoy any form of showing, and trying to protect its future for us all .
