Today I was taking one of my ponies to my turn - away field, which involves driving up a very narrow lane with high hedges on both sides, and some blind bends. I am always very cautious here, especially as it is a cut = through for the local boy racers.
As I was creeping under the old railway bridge, two riders appeared right in front of me in the middle of the road - naturally I stopped. The lead rider yelled at me to turn the engine off, which I did.
She then rode past glaring at me. The second rider managed a thank - you, followed by 'He's only 3'. My pony chose that moment to move in the trailer, and the youngster shot past like an bullet!!
So, WHY was she hacking a 3 - year old in the first place, and why in Gods name did they choose this lethal lane?? If she had met a car instead of a very slow - moving and 'horse - aware' vehicle the consequences don't bear thinking about!!!
