Thats a swine but it happens! Onwards and upwards for you, another day, another judge. Its upsetting for little ones as they when their ponies are good or not and they don't understand. Neither do adults but harder for kids!

I went to a large local once to find a small child stood in the ring who turned out to b e the judge, after taking part in one class i promptly loaded up the ponies and drove the two hours home!!!!!!!!! Thats local showing realy, you take your chance with the judges, mind you alot round here are now using panel jdges thank god!!!! Take a deep breath and try next time!!!!

thanks, he really enjoyed himself and that was the main thing, although he needs to smile he made me laugh as he had such a serious face lol like you say though local showing is always risky, i had a friend in another class who was out at the end with her youngster, she asked for feedback as to why she was last, judge turned round and said your horse tracks up and works to much form behind..... eh? ? i had to get her to say it again as i couldnt register it? lol tis all fun and games, so long as my son wants to do it and is happy we will carry on, just hope he learns that its not all about winning that red rosette..

There are good judges out there who don't want to go on panels, it's not the be-all and end-all. Not that I disagree with you about judges at local shows, you do very much take your chance. A small (how small furball?) child though is not on in anyone's book surely? Some knowledgeable people are willing to put something back by judging, my daughter does a bit but will only judge what she has some knowledge of. It can often be a question of giving novices guidance on how to do showing, I'd have thought panel judges are better employed doing what they are on the panel for.
