Here are my moans about RI
The parking is bad
Its in the wrong place to far (should be n the middle of the country)
The rings are bad unless you are in the main ring.
The whole show has no atmosphere.
Its not like it use to be when it was at Wembley
Not a moaner but just think its awful i spoke to a few Friends that were ther watching and they said they qualified Hoy's but wouldn't bother with RI.
We wont again.

Are you talking about visitor parking or horsebox parking? Thought the visitor parking was expensive, and some of the people taking the money were a bit suspect - most days we were given a receipt, but on saturday the guy took our money and put it in his pocket, and despite having the ticket machine, never gave us a receipt. As a visitor I thought the atmosphere was great, a bit of something for everyone - not everyone wants to watch showing classes, although there was seating at most of the rings if you wanted it. OK so the river lawn was a bit lumpy, but I didn't hear any complaints about any of the other rings.
I also have an issue with them charging again for the dressage - if you've already paid 20 odd pounds to get in to the show ground, another tenner on top of that is a bit steep.
Oh and I did notice yesterday whilst watching the show jumping on the telly, how smart and substantial the stabling was for the showjumpers compared to the ones the showing people have to use!

I havent been to RIHS for years!!! but did go the first 2 times it was at Hickstead and although it was years ago there wasn't much atmosphere it just felt like another Hickstead meeting, so interesting that Mayhem still thinks its the same!!!! The atmoshpere at Wembley was electric especially going back indoors in the middle of summer!! The permanent stabling at the top of the field that the showjumpers use are nice substantial brick built stables I suppose they get the best stables as they are generally there all week. Im going to HOYS this year for the first time for years, last time I went it was Wembley so will be interested to see what the atmosphere will be like at the NEC

Well I personally love the RIHS and Hickstead - it is my favourite show of the season and apart from the River Lawn which I think is an appalling ring to compete in and I do wish they would reconsider where they put the M&Ms - I still love it! I think the rings for the show ponies; hunters etc are great - big wide open rings where they can really strut their stuff and I love to see the hunter ponies gallop up the hill. I hate the long walk in the stable field and my legs ached like mad on Friday - but it could be worse! I would hate to see it moved - the NEC is hopeless - miles to walk and who wants to be indoors? Just look at HOYS all that money to qualify - then literally such a short show, sometimes not even 2 canters and that's it. There are some changes I would like to see but given it all I would still always want to go to the RIHS - long may it continue.

i thought it was a lovely show, it was our first time going this year but we would deffo make the 6 hour journey to go again, lovely rings (although we do have a hunter, wouldnt of been impressed if we were in the river lawn ring) great atmosphere and i loved the way the showing people were parked with the show jumpers, what a friendly breed they are!

I hate the fact the coloureds are now on the Tuesday technically the day before rihs starts! There were barely no trade stands open! We have qualified every year since the coloured classes started there but this was our first time back competing there for 5 or 6 years!

I had a amazing time, to ride at such a prestigious show for my first time was fab. I do agree the parking was a bit weird, especially as we were parked next to a swamp that stunk and it was a long walk to our stable. But apart from that, it was brill, the rings were very well sized and the atmosphere was electric. Will hopefully be able to again, but just got to qualify!

I went Tuesday to watch the Coloureds and had a lovely day!! Yes it's a shame they're not really in the rest of the show, but at least it's free entry!! Thought the atmosphere around the ring was pretty good - lots of people watching. Really really hope to get my boy there one day!!

We went again this year. I actually think the atmosphere is great, & the journey being a long way away, isn't great but makes it more fun! We were parked in an awful place this year!! We were right on the corner where you turn out of the main lorry park for the exit near the gate. On friday night we had people walking backwards & forwards shouting & screaming, on there way to & from the party. Didn't get any sleep until it was over at 12.30am! On the whole, we would still go, as we love the atmosphere of Hickstead! The amount of people watching, shows just how popular the show is! We'll definitely be trying to qualify again next year been for several years, & the feeling of qualifying & getting in the ring is amazing.
