Well I hope the lady in the outfit mentioned comes on here and reads this thread. I'm 34 this year and would love to be able to get away with an outfit like that.
I think everyone has to start somewhere. Not all people take showing seriously and just turn up with their ponies for a fun day out. As long as no health and safety rules have been broken then fair play to them for having a go. And if a lot of them are juniors maybe their parents have no idea about showing and they don't either. Maybe they can't afford a lot of gear and maybe they are just doing it for a giggle.
I'm pretty sure most of them realise just how fickle showing is pretty quickly and go straight back to hacking out and just enjoying their ponies.

Being the wrong side of 40 myself, I'd love to be able to wear an outfit like that!!! As far as I can see, she looks a lot better than a lot of the younger exhibitors you see!

She is part of a well known stud and only dresses like that for The Highland. Though to be fair she does only goes to one or two shows a year with them. And usually only for the male judges - funnily enough both years the mare hasn't done the best but the foal at foot always has! ;D

Whether she looks good for 40 or not it isnt really ideal outfit to be wearing around any horse, especially dolly shoes and never mind in the show ring with other horses :\ ?!

Bloody hell!!! When you say no spring chicken.. I am 40 this year!!!!! Does that class me as old? lol ;D Not in the slightest! 40 isn't old but it is a bit ott to be wearing that outfit to anything other than a fun night out or a fancy dress party - not really appropriate for the show ring - especially a Royal show! Inappropriate maybe but at least she looks like she made an effort and is fairly smart. I saw this recently www.highview-photography.co.uk/Osmotherley%20Show%2006-08-2011/F-05/img_6958.htm
