Not too bad if they weigh you at the entrances as you haven't got far to go. All your feed, food, water, hay, bedding etc will be used up by Sunday. Will they make you leave your lorry there if you're overweight, as there will be a mega holdup otherwise.

Whilst I can understand concern at a delay because of this, rather like being stuck in a bad traffic jam, lorries should not be driven over weight and there are plenty of public weighbridges where a lorry can be weighed with full water, diesel, etc on board and then calculations done to see what can be carried. Scary that there seems to be a "if its overweight what does it matter" attitude.

Agree, especially in an accident where this could make a difference to life or death when being hit by an over weight vehicle.

I am not sure if they are weighing those, a few friends are going up in trailers so I am sure we will hear soon, I am sure they count though as its still illegal to pull over certain amounts especially with certain vehicles.

I understand that this weighing is voluntary !! its inplace so that competitors can be aware of what weight they actually are with full weeks, food horses, bedding ect, so dont panic its a good learing cure for us all and will allow us to possibly pack correctly in the future !

Actually its the bHS & they are asking if you want to be weighed !!!!!!!! & the reason everyone is queing is cause you have to be allocated your stable numbers

I have been asked to point out that VOSA are there in an advisory capacity. Weighing is voluntary. VOSA are very well aware that there is some confusion amongst horsebox and trailer owners regarding various aspects of the law relating to transport. For this reason they have taken the opportunity offered by Equifest to speak to horsebox owners, answer questions and offer advice. As well as weighing there is the opportunity to ask VOSA all those questions that have been circulating forums and magazines lately regarding driving hours, O-licenses etc etc. This is your your chance to ask the officials.
I am told there will not be consequences for anyone found to be overweight on the way into this show.
I think everyone should take advantage of this initiative, VOSA are NOT trying to catch anyone out. After all the rules are there for a reason - if your lorry is overweight it is dangerous - and surely no-one wants to put their horses at risk.

I think this is a very good idea how many of us pack our wagon up and really have no idea if we are overweight? I know how much my wagon weights unladen and how much my horses are however the extras are always a guestimate but fully laiden with bedding, feed, hay etc how many would be over without knowledge so long as VOSA do not prosecute and give people the opportunity to rectifty! I think some people will be quite shocked at what they have on board

Surely no one can knock what VOSA are doing, this is a brilliant opportunity for everyone to once and for all be certain what actual overall weight they are. It would put all those peoples minds at rest who do not know to find out they are under weight when fully loaded. And all those who are over to do something about it and know there limitations. And for those who are over weight and drive their boxes knowing this, putting everyone including there own loved ones and livestock at serious risk. Then may you get what you deserve.
