Totally agree with all the above comments. When we arrived on Wednesday it just felt SO good to be back at Peterborough and I agree Hollycane this is the championship show for everyone. I don't think Betsy will be wooed by qualifiers which is great news, as I agree I think it would spoil the show. I think they managed so well considering the huge entries etc. - do agree there are some learning points - Ring 6 was far too small and even when they took away the collecting ring on Thursday to enlarge it (after some ponies slipped in the ring) it was always going to be too small for the E finals for M&Ms. This resulted in having to split go rounds and obviously really put the timetable out but I think that was always going to be the case. From a personal point of view Thursday was a disaster as we missed 2 classes because of this. The overrunning in the E arena also meant that the Hack final ran 1 1/2 hours late and they ended up being judged in a collecting ring at the far end of the showground! Having said that I thought all the judges did a sterling job of trying to keep to time whilst ensuring all competitors were treated fairly and given the same opportunity whether in top or last - thought Mathew and Sue Phelan did a sterling job of their marathon session. I think I heard Jon Phillips saying that next year they will have on line entries and that this should hopefully give them a quicker idea to class sizes so they can ensure the timetable is more accurate. Hopefully that will also ensure ring sizes are appropriate, it was annoying to sometimes see 6 ponies in a huge ring whilst there were 30 odd nose to tail in a small one. The evening performances were spectacular - what an atmosphere - congratulations to all. So sorry for Georgia - ponymum - we leapt from our seats, hope she has recovered and I am sure her moment of glory will come. Have to say I also felt for poor Hetty (who was the champion) as she was equally upset for Georgia and is a lovely girl and whilst delighted to win, didn't want to do it that way. Huge well dones to our 'winning table' jockies - Gemma Pallet and little Eloise Van Pragh - really proud moment for the family and to little Claudia Cawle with Mountain Sandstory - mini Equifest Champion - not a dry eye in the camp! Thanks angelique for the nice comments! Think she thoroughly enjoyed it but we are both exhausted now and after judging the grass roots classes yesterday as well she thought she wouldn't be able to walk today! Off the try and get those dresses clean for BSPS! P.S. Thanks to who ever returned my pillow!!! but you could have left at least one full bottle of wine rather than the empties!! and so agree Hollycane wouldn't a champagne bar be fab! next to that wonderful jewellery stall would be ideal - my two favourite pastimes!

We really enjoyed the show again this year despite not having the best of results ,wonderful animals on show the quality was amazing .we managed several fourths couple of 2nds two thirds and 7th and 8th with our bunch .Wonderful show as ever run by excellent team . only a couple of anoying things one being that we were told on arrival to park anywhere and after taking several hours setting up with five other friends and boxes where we parked last year as we liked that spot it turned out we had parked by some hook ups so when one set of people arrived who had booked hook up they insisted we moved three tents which we had taken hours putting up difficult due to the stoney ground so they could pull in right next to the plugs and wouldnt park one wagon lengh further back despite haveing loads of electric cable which would have easily reached no they had to upset everyone just to be 25 ft nearer where the plug was ,no one else insisted people moved and were content to park a little further back i have never met such a set of selfish self centred people in my life and hope one day you have to do just the same thing which actually resulted in them being a bit squished in instead of being able to have all the room they needed really spoiled our start to the show we were all so tired after the journey and setting up .I hope they put reserved on these pitches next year to avoid this happening again . Very disapointed to see some of the entrants in the homeproduced classes were not really that one which got third shown in hand and ridden by a producer before and after the class very disapointed at this but as betsy said they have to take entrys at face value and rely on entrants being fair and honest and she asked that in future she would appreciate competitors letting them know as class is in progress. We had a very disapointing ride judge who didnt seem to like hairys and had no interest in the horses with lower pulls and made no attempt to give them a decent ride and not just in our class we wont ever pay to show under this man again .

Just returned from Equifest last night and was very pleased to come home with a 1st in our Section A medal class, 2nd in our NPS section A class and a 3rd in our home produced class.
I dont think I will be returning to this show that we have previously loved so much.
Friday our day was reuined by what appears to have been someone double booked for our stables, As i refused to leave my box explaining to the lady i had booked duration and had the box since Wednesday she then called security on me who then arrived and asked me " on what grounds do i refuse to leave the stabling" after showing them my receipt and booking form and THE ONLY STABLE MANAGER ON SITE appearing over an hour later the women had been given the wrong stable numbers.
Saturday we had the same problem, the women was then told by the stable manager to "FIND AN EMPTY STABLE AND PUT YOUR HORSE IN IT" and Saturday night we was woken by a load of youths stealing the buggy's and crashing them about on the show ground, someone had to run up and find security as the number was not in the booklet and then when they did arrive we found out only two security officers manage the whole ground.
The food was awful on site also, I wouldnt advise eating in the provided resturants, poor food and very poor service.
In previous years I have very much enjoyed the show but this year I felt that it was very much run to take your money and not worry so much about the service.

We only went to watch on Saturday but really enjoyed ourselves!!! Thank you garrettponies for your hospitality it was lovely to meet you and your gorgeous daughter and her pony. Like someone else said I don't think I have ever seen so many lorries and ponies and horses of all different types and shapes!! We went last year but don't remember it being so busy. Agree signposts would be excellent!! Such a shame about the stabling business for those affected. I loved the trade stands. My daughter thought it was great getting her picture taken in the rosette stand! (must check thier website to see if the pic is there!). Only very small gripe. Walkway at bottom of ring 8 seemed sooo narrow. It was almost impossible to walk along there. Was suprized that no pony/rider/or pedestrian was not injured in some way. Perhaps some parts should be horse access only like they at some of the county shows. I have to say well done to a rider in one of the show pony classes on Saturday in the indoor arena. The pony was totally gorgeous (wish I could have taken it home!) It became very unsettled with the clapping at the end of the class. His child jockey reamained calm, sat tight and constantly reassured the pony. I was very impressed!! I Love the East of Englan showground and Equifest, it is the best!! I WILL be there with our own pony next year if it kills me!!!! Modified as I had to add, after watching some of the SP classes teamarcher your ponies are Devine!!! (Literally) no seriously they are gorgeous. Your grey really reminds me of one of my all time favourites 'Cratfield Bobby Dazzler'. Well done for your results but Very well desrved!!

Huge well done to Mayeath Royal Glory and Alice! She got a 4th, three 5th's and a 6th in the huge classes up there. She also went on to win the top spec dressage for riders under 14 So proud of my old pony as she hasn't been in the ring since 2009 as she has had a foal and for her to come out this year with a new jockey and do so well is amazing! Very happy for her new owners

Cayo - Thankyou for calling us self centered but I think that if you had paid for 2 hook ups u would also want to park where the hook ups are as vehicles driving over your cables is dangerous and will damage them.
I understand that u were not told where to park but u did have alot of space at the other side of your box. One of our other friends and booked a hook up next to us but had to move to a different place with no hook up as u were in their hook up space.
This is a mistake on east of showgrounds side and not yours but I do think it is harsh to say we ruined your time.
We had a fantastic time with very good results to say we took lots of 4 yr olds and first season horses who all Did us very proud and didn't put a foot wrong.
Thanks to all the team and horses, excellent show and will definately be returning next year.
My only other compliant is someone pintching my Fylde show numnah off the stable door with my horses name on so will know if it's his. If anyone has it please could you pm me as I will give a reward for it's return.
Thankyou equifest!!!!

Thankyou equifest!!!! sorry Bombay but your party could have easiley managed without all the upset and work you caused us and it could have been made so no one need drive over your wires and you would have then had more space than you ended up with ,we only used one side of our box to set up and pitch our tents just because we had one box three ponies and 6 people riding all week doesnt mean we were not entitled to pitch enough tents to accomodate sadley we dont all have the luxery of huge wagons with tons of living and 20ft wouldnt have killed anyone there were no wagons driving up and down there wasnt room so you would have been safe ,i was in fact livid i am not to young very ill and had missed a nights sleep spent hours setting up tents and not only were we expected to move the tents but the box too when i explained just how long that would take to pack again and move Pam brown very rudley sugested it wouldnt take her that long to shift em well up yours Pam ,no it wasnt our fault we were told to park anywhere so was everyone else but it was your fault that we were so put out all the others who booked hook up were content that thier plugs reached where the socket was so why were your crew any different and it did spoil the start to our hols.

Bombay, you are right this was a mistake on east of england showground who quite clearly told everyone to park anywhere which resulted in a mass of wagons parked badly... our group parked further down from you were directed to that area where the hook ups were and did not even realise the hook ups were there... there was a perfectly good space one wagon up from cayo's in which your wagon could have parked without causing as much disruption... and due to the bad parking there would have been no wagons able to drive over any cables as nothing barr a golf buggy could get through.|I understand as a group you wanted to be together as we did but it was not really possible... as for having alot of room... the other family I was with could not even refill their water tank due to your wagon next to them being repositioned later on wed evening to about 8" away because of this situation! Anyway... a good week in all but parking issues need sorting for next year.

Cayo - what Bombay has written was not to directly have ago at you but to merely say that we had paid a lot of money into the thousands between us all for this show, so we wanted our space we had paid for! Pam was clearly just warning you that we were on our way and would not be happy that you was in our space, if Pam hadn't of told you to move, we sure would of a hour later when we turned up. You talk about us ruining the start of your show, when in fact you ruined ours as we had to cram ourselves into a tiny space and we couldn't all be together (when we had paid to be) and you had plenty of space on the other side of your wagon to use!! It's not about the affording of the big wagons, would you use that excuse to other producers? Equifest organised the show tremendously apart from the parking spaces, I think there just needs to be a steward parking people directly, and hook up passes should be handed out so paid up spaces are not taken.
Melons - we had to park the wagon close so we could fit in our own paid spaces, our lead would of not reached into our box had we of parked three plots further down, and we certainly didn't want to park in anyone else's paid spaces. If the box that we had to park close to asked us to move whilst they filed the water tank we would of been happy enough to do it as we understand the stress it causes. Cayo and there family were in fact very rude with the whole situation and did not give us a chance to say thank you otherwise one would have been issued! Anyway back to the results and not the moaning, let's just hope equifest improve on parking situations next year.

Just a quickie to say how much I enjoyed judging at Equifest. The organisation is just amazing and we should all remember just how much hard work goes in to making the show such a success! The classes were great and I think exhibitors across the board were keen to improve their animals, performance and turnout. HAPPY is the word that springs to mind when thinking about the show overall. Congratulations to all those who were successful and lets look forward to next year if we weren't so lucky! Thank you Betsy and your team it was a memorable experience!!

Well we were tired and frustrated too with 7 ponies 3 of which were entires to bed down and get water to after over a 4hr journey in the heat, so the last thing anyone needed was a parking war. It was noones fault but when you've paid £xx to get hook ups n your plots are allocated weeks in advance it's not something you expect to e greeted with. So boo to EofE!! Melons we didnt use the plot on te other side of cayo's lorry as that plot had been allocated to Amanda Marfleet who we knew had not arrived yet. If the lorry on the otherside of us wanted to top the lorry up i'd of gladly moved forward for them and then followed them to the tap they were using as I couldn't find one anywhere to top up with hence some very quick showers all week!

had a lovely show as always, and phanty enjoyed himself as usual! on the parking/hook up topic, i requested red stabling and red hook up - all good, EXCEPT red hook up along perimeter fence and OVERFLOW red stables about 10 miles away behind the pizza van!! . had a brief hissy fit, (in private) then decided to forgo hook up in favour of lorry parking right by stables , on the theory stables and hook up wouldn't move but we could!!) THEN remembered that we took generator out of lorry at home, as wouldn't need it!! (another hissy fit HOWEVER the lovely Jamie Ryder Phillips sorted out a spare electric line from the pizza man and saved the day!! ;D ;D all in all, some slightly strange judging, but our favourite show of the year as usual

I dont know who you are but your attitude is contempable you could have been feet away from where you parked with no one being put out and i dont need warning from pam or anyone else of your imminant arrival it wasnt our fauilt we parked where we did and you could like others have just parked a little away from the plug socket i would have gladly lent you my longer lead you didnt pay for a pitch you booked a plug socket which you could have reached we saw all the extra lead tucked under the box we didnt even get a sorry or a thank you and i think you will find it was pam who was rude we simpley tried to explain why we couldnt up sticks and move all our stuff quite as easy as she seemed to think and that in order to stay together it would be best all round if you had parked behind us,and what has the fact that you are producers got to do with anything it didnt matter who you were, you were happy to put people out with no thanks or offers to help and then moan as one of yours couldnt fit in as you said you booked two hook ups for three boxes ,so yes lets hope these hook ups have reserved clearly marked on them next year oh and our party too paid into the thousands for the week so dodnt even go there

Had a fab week, but was told by Lynn Russell that my 16.1hh horse was too small to be in the Equifest hunter class and should be measured as a small hunter! Have to say though, looking at the size of some of the 'small' riding horses and hunters, she wouldn't have looked too out of place.
Mr Van Praagh rode all of the hunters in the class wonderfully, but I did find him a little rude!
