I am having a nightmare trying to purchase a horsebox. We sold our 3.5t three weeks ago, a bit daft to do it mid season but as we'd had no interest we had to snatch the buyer's hand off!
We thought going out with cash would be the easy bit, little did we know! The worst thing that's happened so far was travelling to Wales (from Devon - so not a hideous journey, but far enough), actually purchasing the lorry, and motoring away from the services... as soon as we got onto the M4 it literally died - lost all power and switched off. Fair play to the sellers, they did come back and rescue us and give us our money back. And so the search continued...
This week we thought we found the perfect lorry (again in Wales!), organised insurance and collection for this weekend, then out of the blue the idiot woman has decided she won't acccept cash 'in case it's fake'. What am I going to do - give her Monopoly money!? Argh!!!
So now we have wasted all week thinking we're going to get this one, and don't have time to seek out another to collect this weekend. So no CHAPS championships for me this weekend.
Why don't these time-wasting simpletons think about how their faffing/stupidity/selfishness affects others!?
Rant over, I needed that :-)

Sorry you are having so many problems. Have you thought about hiring a box or trailer for the weekend?

To be honest I would be a bit worried accepting a large sum of money in cash from someone I didn't know! There is a lot of conmen (not that I am suggesting you are one) out and about these days and unfortunately because of these thieving swines, people just don't trust anymore....... I can see her point, and maybe people have been bending her ear about the cons that do go on and scared the poor woman to death!
Could you not get a bankers draft?

There are now quite strict rules for financial institutions to guard against money laundering, and trying to pay large amounts of cash into a bank or equivalent could lead to questions being asked. I'm not suggesting that there's anything dodgy going on, just stating facts.
