So...this is the only answer i get when asking ponies uk a question I know they have lots to do, so i should just make up my own mind, but...dont want to be turned away from the class! So can anyone answer - For Puk Novice SHP, can you wear a 2 ring bubble bit (snaffle mouth piece) Aparently so according to them, but i know what its like...get to a class all ready to go, then turned away So...yes or no?

I think Frankie in the rule book there is a pictoral view of acceptable bits, shoot me down if I'm wrong anybody. Personally I would'nt use one of those dutch gags in the ring, but its personal preference. I find them pretty handy, but may try to find a bit with a similar action, but less obviously and more recognised as acceptable. I'm only inhand these days so may be a bit dated on my views.

Any suitable bridle is just that. Sorry Armada but you are referring to the acceptable bridles for the competition horse classes where only a snaffle or double is acceptable. I would be happy to see a novice shp going sweetly in any bit rather than haveing been "fixed " into going in a snaffle.

You can do it in that bit
I like puk novice classes as you arent restricted to just snaffles as you are with bsps. It is a major bug bear of mine that people assume all ponies like snaffles!! My novice is much happier ina pelham as he doesn't like the nutcracker action of a snaffle, but the funny looks you get when you say he is 4 is unbelievable

thought maybe I wasnt quite correct about it hp, but i suppose its only opinion. Our 14hh did'nt like the nutcraker, so I swopped to a straight bar snaffle with some bobbles on the mouthpiece, worked a treat. Gotta go with what the pony is happiest in at the end of the day, as long as it is acceptable to the society. 'Fixed' is not an option for us either!!
