Our 4 year old welshie has been doing OK, but I feel he could do with some additional professional 'help' to get over a few probelms that we seem unable to fully come to terms with. Any suggestions please, southern location

I personaly would recommend Lucinda Sims - but I expect this opinion will be shot down by others. I found her extremely helpful with ours - she is a lovely person as well

Having had cobs for many years, I would always recommend that if you have a problem then go to someone who works with and understands cobs. They are powerhouses, physically aswell as mentally.
I would recommend Carol Issac or Kate Harris (or Chapel I think I heard over the loud speaker at the last show!)
Absolutely brilliant when it comes to cobs.

You cant beat Aimee (&^%$ every pony cob she ride goes superb, she has a web site, follywoodstud.

Hi,
Both Carol and Kate are very good.
Carol Isaac: 01488 638600 07768 034482
(from WPCS green journal)
Carol has ridden, broken and produced my mother's ponies for years and does an excellent job.
Carol is based nr Newbury, so quite easy to get to from SW.
Others in SE area are Aimee (&^%$ and Sam Roberts who also are both used to riding welshies.
It may be bad time of year to try and get someone to do schooling now - as they will all be busy with lots of shows now. You might be better waiting until Late Aug/September when things have quietened down. Or if you just want 1 week then someone may be able to fit you in !
Lexy.

Have myself sent ponies to Sally-Ann McGrath with great satifaction and have several friends who have done the same with great success. especially good with the tricky ones and an excellent instructor at all levels really can explain what she means . she is south east.

Helpwanted,
I would suggest that the most important thing is to find someone, who can help you produce your pony......
As the comments above, there are lots of people around that could produce your cob to a high standard to get results.....in reality that is what you pay a producer to do for you.....however it sounds like you are looking for someone to work with you, rather than taking over completely...
Sometimes getting help from someone outside the showing arena, that can focus on you and your pony's way of going can bring new ideas / light on to how to get better harmony.....
We use a BHSI dressage instructor to help improve our flat work, he has particularly helped with getting ours to work correctly into the contact, in addition we have a local eventer that works on the "forward theory"....all in all it helps us get the ponies moving and working correctly.
Just a thought.....

Thanks for all comments. I have contacted several people suggested on this thread, what is interesting is the fact none of the well known names have bothered to get back to me via e-mail, land line or mobile although i have left messages on all 3! I can appreciate they are busy this time of year, but a quick phone call to expla in situation does not take hors, i am still looking, hope to go to someone who is starting out

I think you need to be a bit more patient, producers this time of year don't spend a lot of time at home and looking at their emails and responding to messages takes a back seat. I would imagine any good producer wouldn't be able to take on a new horse until the end of the summer and possibly not until after HOYs anyway.

Carol Issac and Kate Harris are two of the best Wesh Cob producers in the country and two of the nicest people, they have both had several welsh cobs at Olympia and won the Royal Welsh.

Please do not turn this thread into a slanging match, if there are anymore damaging comments then this thread will be locked.
Personally I have only ever heard glowing reports about Debbie Baker and when the time comes depending on how many ponies I am showing at the time I would quite happily send my stallion to her to be produced under saddle.

Hi 'Help wanted' If you are looking for a new producer which I think is a brilliant idea as they have more to prove so will work harder (there's a statement someone's sure to shoot down). I have heard that Borderhill Stables (hampshire)is very good and your cob would be treated like one of their own, not only getting schooled but also hacked and turned out. I believe this year they are producing Trullingham Darius (section D) see Home Counties Spring Show results and are doing well with him. 07876763503 Found advert in SCWPCA newsletter.

The purpose of this thread as I saw it was for assistance in finding professional help in sorting a few problems with a pony. By all means offer advise to the person requesting it but please do not condemn individuals and there methods. What may not suit one person could well suit another.
Now that the trouble makers have been warned any further unfounded comments will result in a 7 day ban on your ISP.

Thank you for all help, after talking to our instructor, who is a Prix St George dressage rider and helps out 1 or 2 producers, she is coming every day for a week in the summer holidays to help us with schooling etc. will send him away if he needs it in the autumn...we are going to get in touch with Borderhill Stables as suggested

Personally would have to recommend the baldwin family from the janton stud near Builth Wells. They break, school and show welsh cobs. Jamie is frankly the best rider i have ever had the pleasure of watching, making difficult horses look easy. Probably most important thing though is that the horses on the yard are all happy. Hope this helps.
