Hi. Could anyone please advise me as to the ruling regarding bits in this class. Couldn't see in the schedule if this class was affiliated to an association so being a bit thick I didn't know if it was any suitable bit or if they needed to be in a snaffle. Thanks.

Novices should be in Snaffles, we were once frowned upon in a Wilkie in a novice class!

Not sure what society its affiliated to if any but Puk allow any suitable bridle in their novice classes. Bsps & Nps snaffles only.

This is what's confusing me as I can't see in the schedule if it says it's affiliated to any society. I suppose I should just put his snaffle in to be on the safe side.

If there's nothing in the schedule and no indication of an affiliation then I guess its up to you and the judges preference. Some judges aren't bothered if novices are in doubles etc, some will penalise, others not - tricky situation and will be very annoying if you put yours in a snaffle and then the top 6 are all in doubles going like open ponies! As you said it may be best to take yours in a snaffle to be on the safe side! Good luck anyway and have fun x

Got the catalogue here. 25 in Novice smalls, 64 in C&D, and 24 in Large (exc C&D). PUK rules, so that is any suitable bridle I believe.

I always thought that snaffles were the only bridles to be used in novice classes! I would'nt, on principle, want to show a novice in a novice class in anything but oneMind you, that's just me!
