well i think it went well considering the weather and mud and there was at least 10 tractors ok we had to wait for 2 hours to get into the ground but classes were delayed thankfully. i think you did a fab job emma well done. thanks everyone on star he was so naughty but were so happy we were 3rd in such a stong yearling class, at the end of the day you choose to go or not we did go did one class but i decided not to do the mare and foal class with mine due to the weather and it beening there 1st time out for them. it is britain and emma can't be blamed for the weather!!!

It doesn't surprise me the amount of moaning these will be the same people who stand at ringside moaning about everything from judging to ring size etc etc.Derby was difficult this year and i too queued for 1 hour 40 mins to get parked but get parked we did and we also did our class in a downpour, judges stewards etc all made the best of it and the my horses coped admirably, after all they are horses the finest ALL TERRAIN vehicle ever created. I had no problem with an extremely polite tractor driver,i asked him not to go too fast and he didnt,I would like to thank all at Derby County for carrying on a very difficult day lets hope the sun shines for you next year.

i agree . it was my 1st time ever at competing at county level and it was also my horses 1st time too!! i did working hunter with about 30 in the class and we came 4th overall, me and my horse who have only competed at local level can give it a bash in bad weather conditions, and come out overwhelmingly happy i dont understand the problem people have, if u knew it had been raining all week and u thought should be called off, you should have not turned up, instead of tryin to point the blame at other people, at end of day its your decision if you come no1 elses Oh your first county show WELL THEY DO SAY A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS, DON'T THEY? WHAT A NASTY, VICIOUS LITTLE COMMENT get beaten did you? it's snotty little so and so's like yourself that are the reason showing is going down the pan, whatever happened to encouraging new blood - oh i know - you don't like some competition.

thankyou annaguest whoever you are, it kind of hurt my feelings it did, i have been riding 12 years so how can i have "little" knowledge just because its my 1st attempt at county doesnt mean i dont know what im doing necessarily. yes i am slightly less experienced but without having a go you wont learn the trick of the trade. i have been to many and watched to take notes on how things are different to local. i loved my 1st exprience and was over the moon at how we did!
i encourage all those that want to give it a go, i was so xcited and nervous but if you get chance to have a crack at it, it's well worth taking part!
the judges were fantastic with me gave me brilliant advice to take away with me and work at for nect time, and believe me there will be many more next times from now on!

You do right to be pleased with yourself, well done you I say, there are a lot of us out here with OK horses and Ponies who once in a while have "their day " it makes all the hard work and effort worthwhile and it;s WHY WE DO IT. Some people have such Great animals and are sooooo used to winning that they have lost a bit of perspective.Heres to us the cheerful people who smiled through the rain and got on with it. There are more of us than you think and together we can put the FUN back into showing and Forums !!!

Well done to you on your first time out...I think you should be real pleased with your result... The person who made that awful comment should be ashamed of themselves - its people like that, who give showing a bad name. I am hoping next year i will be taking my daughter out to some County shows, and i would be devasted to hear someone make comments like that, and so would my young daughter. Nobody made any claims that they 'knew everything', just stated it was their first time at a county show, and enjoyed it, WHATS WRONG WITH THAT.

good luck to all you who go out and do it! just enjoy and have fun!

Oh and Budgie well done for your first county, showing IS fun and it's the stuck up snotty looking down your nose at people type people that give showing a bad name. Annaguest I'm really shocked that someone could post such a terrible comment when the person hasn't written anything particularly offensive? Apart form the truth - truth hurts, don't ya know

I think annaguest was quoting the person who wrote
Oh your first county show WELL THEY DO SAY A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS, DON'T THEY?
I can't quite remember who that was but if you look back you'll see it wasn't annaguest

Correction you are right annaguest was quoting budgie and good for her! its people like budgie who put people off showing and make it sound like a big face! this is what we are discouraging...you shouldnt need a big name for showing and that was such a spiteful comment! and im really pleased you had a good day out a will hope too see you out more often! when is your next show? maybe we could meet up? what class are you in? xxxx
