Does anyone know of a showing clinic within a 1.5hr journey of Hull. I have a baby pony I would love to get out to a clinic but cant find any within a sensible distance!

willerby would be brilliant as it is within hacking distance of the yard, however they don't have any showing clinics on there. Got some dressage ones but no showing.

Have a look on the NCPA website. They are arranging showing clinics but I am not sure about how far they would be from Hull, possibly 2 hours ish? www.thencpa.co.uk

Unfortunatly pollypocket, the closes of those clinics is a good 2 and a half hours in the lorry. I'm not overly put off by the time take but it would likely cost me the best part of £100 in fuel alone to get there and back. The cheshire one is a good 3.5 hrs at least.
billytuco, I can't find any mention of them on your site

conniegirl - NCPA clinics are not yet on the website
Hope to have one in February with Penny Hollings.
There is one on at Southview EC on Wednesday 4th April with Richard & Marjorie Ramsay
Both are for members only but I didn't post earlier as they are outside your travel zone

If I had enough interest I would put one on at my place - we are near Driffield. I don't have an indoor however, but do have a large outdoor & full set of worker fences.
Alternatively, I could organise one at Willerby. I know the owners and have contacts with various producers.
Would people be interested in a flat clinic or jumping?

Working cob Im based near you and would love a flat clinic at either yours or willerby with a section for first riddens. I think you would get quite a bit of interest. Clinics held at Willerby in the past have attracted quite a few people, if you have it at your own place though you wouldnt have the cost of hiring Willerby. I would happily travel to either.

Workingcob, I would be very very interested in a clinic at willerby or at yours. It would have to be a flat one for my baby pony (only ust had his first canter undersaddle so not up for jumping yet). He is a coloured 15hh SHP.
I have transport so will travel to either, perticularly if it is a good producer
I do know lots of people (at least 8) from the local area who have expressed an interest in a showing clinic so you wouldn't lack for numbers. If you need a hand organising one then please let me know. Even if it is just sticking ads up in tackshops! I'll do what I can to help, I did think of organising one myself but wouldnt have had the faintest idea of where to start.
Janet, i am an NCPA member as i used to live in north wales (up untill june last year) and I am coming to the spring spectacular if pony is ready for it!

Would really be interested in a worker clinic. Willerby or similar would also be good for us!!

Ok, will look into it. Willerby has two indoors plus a covered warm up so theoretically we could have a flat clinic & worker clinic running concurrently. I think, allowing for weather, it would be sensible to have an early season one indoors and then look at arranging something at mine when the better weather comes.
Are people willing to share? Most trainers charge around £50/hour plus travel, plus the hire cost of the arena, so sharing would prob be necessary to make it affordable. What would people pay for a shared session?

Yep I'm willing to share. I'd pay around £35 for a session provided that there were not many in it and are of a similar level/class! (perhaps 2 or 3 per session and not FR's in with 16hh hunters).
Would quite happily put my name down for both clinics!!

Sharing is no problem. Gives young ponies experience of working with others. Have paid between £15 and £25 for hourly group lessons depending on who is teaching but would understand if you needed to make it a little more to cover costs. Not been many shows around the area this winter so would be nice to get out!!

Hi everyone, not sure if this is any help to any of you but last year we were asked to run a showing clinic in the hull area by an organiser but unfortunately it didn't come off due to their yard/arena not being ready in time then we were out all season so was to busy. We aren't producers, however we are at the top end of the home produced scale and have had great success (2nd rihs 2011 in an open class) and have got over 20years experience in showing at that level. If anyone is interested, we would be happy to run a clinic for both ridden & in-hand and share our knowledge & tips with anyone interested. There are a few details on our website www.inthespotlightcorporation.co.uk with pics etc. If anyone is interested pm me or msg back on here and we can have a chat ;D

Right, I've just spoken to Ian at Willerby and he says hire of the arena is £30/hour for the smaller one (suitable for the flat clinic) and £35/hr for the larger one (suitable for the jumping clinic, or flat clinic if we only go for one)
When I've spoken to trainers in the past, they have been around £40-£50/hour, so I think we would probably be looking at four riders per session at £25-30 to make it viable, assuming there will be some travel expenses to cover as well.
Now i need:
1. Suggestions for trainers/producers that people would like?
2. Type of session (eg LR, FR, novice, cobs etc)
3. Any interest in a working hunter clinic (with someone like Michael Cooper, for example)
4. When people would like to do it (Feb half term? Later into March?)

I've a couple of people express interest in the workers clinic as well.
1) Would love a session with Jerome Harforth or Mathew Laurence. 2) I would suggest that there be a combined LR/FR session and I personaly would like a session for very novicey ponies. I went to a clinic with Jerome once in the past and he split it roughly by height and experiance. He was fine with different types together as I was in a session on a HUGE section D and the other horses were a large hack and a HW hunter. He was also absolutly brilliant with the very small kids in the LR/FR class 3) I'm happy with any weekend or I will have to do an evening.

After much to'ing and fro'ing with venues and trainers, it turns out that there is a clinic at Bishop Burton with Julie Templeton in early April, so I think it is best to postpone the planned one.
In which case, I think it would be best to hold it at mine (www.templefarmsequestrian.com) during May half term which would allow me to hold a flat clinic (on manège) and workers clinic (on grass) at same time.
How do people feel about Sarah Emmerson for the flat clinic and either Michael Cooper, Jan Darwin or Rachel Turner for workers clinic?
