All the threads I have read on this said to use Pile cream from the chemist, apparently it reduces the swelling, never had the problem with any of my ponies or me!!!!

They are such a nuisance and difficult to get rid of if they are old, however if they are fairly new try Sea Clay about £24 per pot. Totally 100% natural, unlike Icetight or similar which contain chemicals and can occasionally blister. Sea Clay can be left on, does not need bandaging over but you can if you wish, harmless if licked or chewed!! will not blister or cause skin irritation if left on out in the sun (fat chance.....!!!). Have a try, we use it on everything and you can also put it onto open wounds, its great stuff. Very dirty and messy to use but worth it. Have also have capped hocks lazered with success know good person in Somerset if you are at all local. Good luck anyway.

I had a Welsh D once with a capped hock when I bought her. The Vet said that it could be drained, but that it would probably come back again. I rubbed NAF Arnica gel well into it about twice a day and it disappeared in about 6 weeks... Might have been coincidence but something worked.
