I know this thread has been here before, but has anyone got any remedies that work for splints? It's small and has come up in the last day or so. Any good ideas how to get rid would be welcome!!!!

Use a good equine physio. Various treatments work well. We have had great results with laser therapy.Physio came a couple of times each week and left us a smaller laser to use twice daily. Also used Magnetic boots overnight. Splint gone from size of an egg to barely visible in 3 weeks.

DMSO on twice a day with an old toothbrush ...think its banned in England ...but its still available in Wales and Ireland i think . And keep going with it ....it can take weeks for them to shift . Be careful while the splint is new as they can be sore .

PLEASE dont use DMSO! There is a very good reason why it is banned and believe me if you knew what it does to your insides you really wouldnt want to go anywhere near the stuff!!

Red blister if you can get it - I got rid of a tennis ball sized one with red blister having tried just about everything else going.

It is best done over the winter, or when the horse is not competing.

The laser method doesn't cause blemish or pain. I wouldn't use anything on my horse that I wouldn't use on my children or myself!!You need to start treating this splint asap. Our boy had 3 weeks off...then came straight out to win a RIHS qualifier!
