you have summed up perfectly why I left London/the South East 10 years ago & have never been back & it was tame back then You should try the Waterloo & City line or 'the drain' as it's so charmingly called - truly is hell on earth at rush hour.

I really think that those 'people' who work in and inhabit London have become so zombie-like that they are going around in a complete daze and don't notice or even see what awful things are going on under their noses. It's only normal people like us who thrive in the fresh-air and actually make time to 'see and think' about our surroundings, that notice this awful 'other world' that they call London when they visit on the odd occasion. These zombies have learned to keep their head down, not get involved and repeat to themselves 'Im alright, Jack'.
Sad, but there it is.
Welcome back, overbent; I look forward to another instalment from your, or lorry dog's, diary!!!

yup i work in london and everyday i get of the train at charing cross and enter the station already annoyed with how slow people walk. I have learnt to switch myself off as otherwise working on oxford street i think i would have killed somebody through pavement rage by now! I have to say i dont mind london so much now, i think as i can get out back to the lovely countryside every night, after 2 days in north london at my boyfriends i am definately ready to get home. You think the train in rush hour is scary you should try the tube!! ;-)

There are some of us in both categories - as 'clobo' said. I travel to London by train every day and work in London - but I grew up in countryside, and still have 2 horses now and reguarly ride. Unfortunately if you want to have certain types of job/career then it is a fact of life that a lot of big companies are based in London (or somewhere else I would need to commute to).
But I certainly dont go around in a daze or not know what is going on, you just learn to accept these things and make the most of life. If you were worrying about all the risks every day life would become very difficult.
It could be worse - I could be commuting to Slough every day !! (sorry anyone who lives there).
Lexy.
