One of our ponies has mild sweet itch and up to now had a imitation boett type rug I have decided that I am going to invest in a proper one for him. As they are so expensive I would really appreciate what everyone thinks of the two rugs above. I know this has been discussed before. He is a 13.2 show hunter type but only four so not very mature in front. I dont want to make a mistake as my money is sooooo hard earned. Any comments will be gratefully appreciated.

Have used Boett for years thought we would try Snuggy as they so look the part....but sadly just couldnt get the fit right I swear by the Boett it just does the job is easy to wash easy to repair doesnt rub I would think by the fit a snuggy is better suited to a more long and slim built Horse than a rolly polly native

I had a friend with an Icelandic that was an absolute sight when she bought it, no mane or tail to talk of covered in scabs all over the mane area. I saw the pony about 9 months later after constant wearing of a Boett and it was a different pony. Some years later a girl i kept my ponies with, had a connemara that was pretty bad, although not like the Icelandic, again, the Boett did the trick, you would not have known the pony had a probelm at all Last year my Dartie had a very mild sweetitch probelm and I bought it a Snuggy hoods rug....only because they could get it to me quicker. It was excellent, stopped the probelm straight away. Some years ago had a Sec B with the an 'itchy' probelm and bought the Rambo itch rug, worked well and not as expensive, not a good fit, went over the ears looked a bit strange, however, I don't think the pony had full blown sweet itch, he was just what i call 'itchy'. Don't bother with the creams/sprays I don't think they work at all, I would always recommend a rug and I hav e good experience of both makes, very helpful people at Snuggy Hoods when i bought from last year. Sorry, seemed to have rambled on a bit!

I have had both and I have a truly bad sweet itch pony so believe me when I tell you - been there and have the tee shirt! People at Boett brilliant, but for me, Sunggyhoods every time, more leg coverage, softer but tougher, given that Rocket can itch for England we've done well to keep one going for over 2 years! If I could afford it I'd have one for all my monsters to keep them clean!

i am a massive fan of the Boett rug and cant give a high enough praise. I bought mine through the website and followed their measuring form carefully. After that no probs with the fit or durabilty. Definatly a 5* product

I have both for two different ponies. The Boett is now in its sixth season albeit it is now looking the worse for wear. The Snuggy hoods one was ripped in its first season and didnt make the grade for me I am afraid. As both are expensive I would always go for the Boett. That said it does depend on whether the pony is a vandal that makes for hedges etc to scratch!!!!

SNUGGYHOODS!! We had one horse which had an allergy so we had him in alsorts (including Boetts, Bucas etc) Nothing worked, so we got a Snuggyhood instead and it was fab! It lasted us years and we even sold it with him We bought more for the other youngsters and, besides one being chewed to death by the pups, the survived very well, and we still have them 3 years later! They are also very fixable if ripped, they cover all the important parts, and they really help the itching! ETA: All ours were done made to measure as well

I find that the boett is not so thick therefore when the weather is really hot (if we are lucky!) they do not sweat so much. Not so happy with the Rambo as it does not cover the belly area so well.

Flash Harry I second that, i found with our cob that had sweet itch, although he was warm under the boet, he was a lot better with that than a cheaper well known alternative. The alternative did keep him cleaner though

Snuggy Hoods get my vote.
We have used their products on natives of all different shapes and sizes, finer section b's and tubby section a's. They can be made to measure if you ask. The staff are a lovely friendly team always willing to help!
I found that the Boet, although it does its job well, slightly rubbed the coat of my pony, so that it didnt look as smooth, it just took the ends of the hairs off in some places due to its harsh material. Fussy I know but the pony went to Olympia and Hoys etc and I couldnt afford to have the coat anything other than gleaming! The snuggy alternative was smoother on the inside and I felt happier about leaving it on the pony for long periods of time.
Hope this helps!
