Due to the inclement weather (I think it is called rain ) Area 17 have decided to relocate their show to an Equestrian Centre with 3 Indoor arena's and 1 outdoor arena plus a jumping arena. It has hard standing for lorries. It will now be held at:- Bury Farm Equestrian Centre New Bury Farm Mill Road, Slapton Bucks LU7 9BT It is situated approximately 17 miles from junction 13 of the M1. There is stabling available at £26 per night with straw. Plus extras if required, ie horse showers. Is Bedfordshire in Area 17? Have they got permission from another Area to hold a show or are they sharing?

It's in Bucks. The three schools are small 20 x 40 and the outdoor school is 60 x 80.

Is Bedfordshire in Area 17? Have they got permission from another Area to hold a show or are they sharing? Oh my God! That should be the least of anyone's worries with the weather as it is surely?! Well done on finding another venue Aimee & thank you, at least we can show rather than have another one cancelled!!

Aimee - just to let you know that this venue has had problems with its newly built arenas. I dont know whether this was the indoor or outdoor (i assume indoor) but the base was laid in concrete, and not enough surface was laid on top (or it wasn't laid correctly) such that it was too thin and moved around too much. Earlier this year i believe a showjumping competition was held there and so many horses were tripping and falling over that the majority of the class withdrew their horses as the conditions were so bad.
You would be advised to phone up to check what improvements have been made since then - and avoid putting the WHP and large classes (ie. hoys) on that arena.

Worried, thankyou for your concerns and advice. I have visited Bury Farm a number of times over the past few days due to the possibility of having to relocate the Area 17 Summer Show. Please rest assured that all arenas are in excellent condition. The indoor arenas will be Rings 1 - 3. The HOYS classes will be on the outdoor surface (Ring 4). Ring 5 will be on grass.
I had hoped that people would be pleased that we had found another venue at such short notice, bearing in mind the Farmer cancelled the field at Ford on Thursday 5th July. We are doing our best to have a show, which could easily have been cancelled, however it seems from some posts on this thread that whatever the Area 17 committee do will be criticised.
Aimee opened this thread with her contact details as well as mine, should there be any queries or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are trying our best.
Andy.

REALLY good news you have managed to find another venue. Hopefully the weather will be kind (it seems to be shining at the moment!!).
Sadly we are off to Osbaldeston for the HOYS qualifier with my coloured - was supposed to be sat but has now moved to sunday so hairy highland will have to have a weekend off (not that she will complain LOL!).
Hope you have a good show

Edited by moderator - you have made some valid points, but please start a new thread if you wish to discuss them. This thread should be kept for info on the rescheduled show only. Thanks.

Been up to new venue today just to see where it is and have to say looks incredible smart!!! - fantastic amount of money spent - access is easy - only about 1 mile of county lane from good road and as Slapton is a on one road am sure you won't get lost!!!
As amiee said previously they have stables But I also know of local stabling if required

Are you running all the classes from the original schedule, and is the timetable the same as before? Haven't entered yet - is it still OK to do so on the day? Wanted to enter unaffiliated classes as well - are they still on? Sori for the torrent of questions! Are only the HOYS classes indoors? Thanks!

The schedule and timetable are the same with not before times. Unaffiliated classes are not before 1pm. You can enter all classes on the day. The HOYs classes are outside on a surface. Dont worry about the torrent of questions just fire away.
