I wondered does anyone use megazorb and does it work i am at my wits end i have a 15h hunter who is so dirty i can not keep his stable clean he has a rubber floor with a full bed i am using 4 bales of shavings a week and his breathing seems quite heavy whenever he is stood in the stable, the stable always smells of wee and although my shavings are supposedly dust free they are not. Please advise I heard megazorb is good but am open to suggestions i like shavings but mine are not good enough HELP i live in north west

Megazorb is actually manufactured in Cheshire. I think Northen Crops are the makers. Google Megazorb and see if they have a website. If you make contact with then they will give local stockists. Alternatively ask your local feed merchant to get it for you.
We use this in our lorry and have a dry, smell free horse area!

Have similar problem and have tried most bedding on rubber mats without noticeable improvement. Didn't really find megazorb very good looked like cat litter and was very heavy when wet worked out expensive. Saw absorbabed advertised in HandH and contacted them they sent info and a sample but unless you have a supplier you have to buy by the pallett which I can't do would be very interested to know any users experiences with it. Apparently its used at Myrscough in deep litter and on another yard just as shown in their leaflet on rubber matting. Think could be economical this way combined with suitable waterproof stable rug to keep horse clean. Absorbabed claims to deal with the smell aspect too so sounds possible. There was another bio product advertised a while ago which claims to improve absorbance and deal with the ammonia which causes the breathing prob but I can't find where I put the info about that one. Let me know how you get on not logged on at present.

Aquamax is brilliant. This is the bedding that absorbs the ammonia smell and also very absorbent with the pee, making mucking out easy and very reduced muckheaps as you only take the solids and the VERY wet out, the rest is just mixed back in .
Brilliant stuff.

I changed to megazorb 6 months ago. I don't have rubber mats.I have found it very good for our mucky horse and does not move when he shuffles arond the stable! We use more than they say each week so it does work out more expensive but much prefer it to ordinary shavings.

The good thing about Aquamax is it works so well with rubber matting as the bedding is so absorbant. It is no good having rubber matting with a non-absorbent bedding ie. straw or shavings as then the wee just soaks through and makes the mats wet and smelly. Also I like it as the bags are easy to lift and store and yet they expand to 4 times their size once the bedding is laid and watered. Its brilliant!

we use megazorb find it a1 especially on those dirty greys who always have stable stains the morning of the show, megazorb some how stops that. we have adapted it to our needs as we didn't use the inital 10 bags they say you need to as first and it isn't damped every day if at all. would highly recommed using it, unlike with shavings were the wet goes on and on, megazorb keeps it in one place its a bit like the different brands of kitchen roll! i would recommend you try it and adapt it to your horses needs, keep the muckings out to form a fantastic compost, and have handly bags for ragwort collecting (strong, waterproof and yet burn) or any other suitable jobs you may find for them. Having used shavings etc we find it a very quick and easy bedding to use, its what it says it is "the best bedding on earth" www.megazorb.co.uk/suppliersyou should then be able to find a supplier local to you, if not contact them i am sure they would be able to help you out.

I used Megazorb for a few months and agree with everything you say but the only reason I stopped using it was that it seemed to clog up in the ponies' hooves and I used to pick them out before turning out on a morning! Lovely stuff though !

I know what you mean when its wet, we mentioned that to our farrier as we to were concerned by it, he said it was great because it did that, didn't allow stuff into the sole of the foot as its in there and doesn't dry the hoof out in the summer so the cracking doesn't happen, he said it was the best thing to use for ponies with laminitis as proveds extra cushioning on the sole of the hoof

Yes..that's a very good point! It must offer good support for the sole..and for the mucker out it's good for the soul!
Have'nt discounted a return to using Megazorb at some point in the future.
By the way,I used to collect it by van from Northern Crop Driers near York and they'd negotiate a discounted rate rate for quantity.
