Now Fiona White instead of Jo Bates. I think it is unbelieveable that at this late late date there are now 3(!) judge changes. What a nonsense.

But what idf the judge is ill? What do you want them to do - cancel the class? I am sure I heard that Jo Bates did not judge somewhere else lately so would guess (but have no idea and don't want to) that she cannot judge for some reason such as illness or personal issues? Judge changes are unfortunate but only if you cannot show under that judge because of a connection - there is too much picking and choosing between judges in my opinion - if your horse is good enough should be brave enough to go under anyone, and if you choose not to then tough luck - can't please all the people all of the time. If the result was always the same and all judges thought the same we'd surely give up and take up knitting!

You are right of course. However a big show like this should have reserve judges which should be put in the schedule. With the entries costing so much now with levies inc. it would enable people to make informed descisions on where they spend their money. We all know that there are quite a few judges who show breath taking bias when judging which shows complete disrespect for competitors and showing itself, these judges should not be supported. Fortunatley the new cob judge is not one of these that does showing such a dis-service.

Also if J Bates is poorly both she and her owners will be very upset as she has qualified at least two fab horses to cmpete herself.

I understand its frustrating but as an occassional judge myself, you cant really have 'reserve' judges, as that means the reserve judge would have to give up that day regardless of whether they offered other appointments which they will get paid from!!

Judges ar human after all, I understand that the conformation judge for the hunters David Kellow is unwell and unable to partake. Shows must have plans for all eventualities it must be a nightmare for them. There is a saying you can please some of the people some of the time BUT you cannot please all of the people all of the time. Who would like to organize the RIHS. not me!!!!
