I have been going for years and really enjoy it. The only things that have ruined it from time to time has been the great british weather.
My classes seem to have the same entries in, look forward to seeing all down there.

I agree with the above, the summer champs are what you make them. We always have a good time and a laugh whatever the result. As for small classes most of our B classes have on average between 30 and 40 entries thats plenty enough for me thank you very much.

I just wish it was back at Peterborough, won't go whilst it is still at Newark. Feels more special and always found the atmosphere better at Peterborough. Thats just my opinion though.

Wish they would move it to Arena UK just down the road from Newark with it's all weather surfaces outside & huge indoor arena with bar ,seating & cafe overlooking it then it won't matter if it rains!!

Personally i think its things lik the clapometer and classes for mares and stalions but not geldings that is persuading people not to go. I think they are really silly ideas. I used to go to P.UK every year but this year its bsps for me.

uk arena is fine for the winter champs and its not really just down the road is (logically) also i do know that peterbourgha was better but only because of the way they did it. Personally i think that the atmosphere will never be like ponies uk was. maybe in the next couple of years they will be moving it back. Maybe they need to get rid of D.W. just a thought

Look lets face it. As much as you all loved Peterborough its ground is not free draining like Newark. Nor are their ground maintenance staff as good as Newark!!!!! If PUK was at peterborough this year I do not doubt that either that or BSPS would be cancelled. The ground is not getting chance to recover. So those of you who are going to BSPS be glad PUK wont be on two weeks before! For those off to PUK be glad its at Newark cos for sure it wont be as boggy at Peterborough would be!!!!!

Overbent, I can beat you for once, I have my duvet cover off for a week Its a job I really hate putting it back on - glad theres not only me that does it.
I dont think that Arena UK would be big enough for the summer champs if you look at it logically.
Has anyone had the emails from PUK for the questionaires - things may be looking up but the proof of the pudding is wether they take advice from the members and act on it

I love NPS, Malvern is a great venue, nice stables, NPS staff oh so helpful and NPS true value for money, just owner joins no need to join every pony and class entries at Summer Champs more than 1/2 price of PUK......

Yes Hoping we will be there, its Frankies favourite show, but think it may well be for the last time with us as he is getting so outgrown. I have never loved a pony like we do him and will be heartbroken to let him go - so not thinking about it now will deal with it when the time comes

We are only going for two days this year i think it has lost its atmosphere for some reason or other...
in 2004, my first ever summer championship show, me and my pony defied the odds and somehow jumped a clear round in the 15hh hoys grand prix and won beating all ready qualified ponies, then went champion in the evening performance, then supreme worker of show(then reserve supreme of show to Lydrose Bobby Dazzler even though it wrong legged !!!). In the grand prix champ we got to do a show in front of the grand stand, and in the supreme worker there was everybody that was eligible for it doing except one, the int. worker but the atmosphere was amazing, a once in a lifetime experiance
Now though there is only a handful of competitors come forward for the worker supreme, there is no prize money and not even a trophy, the last 2 years we have persuaded friends that had qualified to do it and they went on to win, but last year malins didnt get there prize money because the sponser pulled out last minute or something like that, but P(UK) failed to notify them!
When i won it i won 2K worth of forage or bedding-we chose straw lol!lasted is a year my grandad nearly had a heart attak when the lorries arrived with it all!
xXx

oh my gosh, we are going for first time ever - no wonder the weather is like it is! Even when we were stuck on Friday at the B and B daughter was telling them how much she was looking forward to going...please undertstand when I say I am hoping for some sort of reprieve as I cant imagine what it is going to be like staying in an elderly day living lorry with wet child, wet clothes, wet child's friend...oh God!!

Well our first time was the last time it was at Peterborough and the ground was sooooo wet and muddy, there was literaly nowhere to warm up, there were lots of rumours of it going to be cancelled because we were ruining the ground for BSPS champs! Now at newark they put sand down in the jumping rings and the flats rings have sand tracks, it is a lot better for drainage, apart fromt he stables on the tarmac...lots of bedding was needed last year but then it was raining constantly! Whatever the weather im sure you will have lots of fun, Ponies Uk is a nice fun championship show (p.s try and take a gazebo- extra space and great area for airing and drying wet clothes, and tacking the pony up at the wagon haha!)

Personally I can't wait for PUK we go every year and although I love the atmosphere at Peterborough the ground is much better at Newark. There's lots of us all going together and stabling in the red so even if we are wet in the tent the ponies should remain dry. As for predictions - we will have a great time wet or dry. My mum and her mates will take root in the Pimms tent. We will definatly forget something but my dad will make sure it's not the beer. Mum will be stressing like hell at the ring side during most of my classes, and my pony could give the judge the ride of his life depending what mod she's in. Good look to everyone thats compeating i can't wait.

This will be the 13th year i have exhibited, well now it is my daughter, me too fat to go in the ring now!!! I would just like to say to you all that it's what you make it , that makes it a good show.....Last year my daughter won 2 championships on a 4yr old, in that horrific driving rain....Do we remember the rain??? No we remember having a great time, and the proud texts coming from grandparents and friends congratulating us...And again this year we are prepared for rain,,, but we are prepared to have a good time aswell, so to all the stalwart exhibitors see you all 2 weeks today
