I am looking to send our pony away to be produced later this year. I have heard some horror stories about some yards and want to make sure I send him somewhere that he will be happy, well treated and also that they are good at what they do. Can anyone recommend a producer? I would consider someone who was up and coming as they would probably have more time. I am looking at areas such as Surrey, hamphire, Sussex, Dorset or around this area.

Ridden please. Up and coming preferred. I don't want them to do any shows ,just lots of schooling as I am too big to ride the pony.

Some that are in South East that all do great job (but are well established as opposed to up and coming - all been to Olympia/HOYS):
Carol Isaac Katie Harris Aimee (&^%$
How big is your pony ? Those ones are all reasonably tall and usually ride Welsh C/D/NF/Highland type size. Although they might well also have smaller riders who work at their yard with them.
Another one who does a bit is Carla who ones Danaway Peaches, and she is only small (about 5'2"). She does ride Section A's fine. Although dont know if she is looking to take any in or whether she is busy with her own and/or got enough at moment.
Hope this helps - let me know if you want more info on any of those.
Lexy.

I am new to this site so unware we are allowed to place phone numbers on here? We prefer people not to post personal details such as phone numbers unless they have the permission of the person whose phone it is. It's best to pass these details by PM.

Not sure exactly - but know she is very near the shows at Mayhill stud, which are in Droxford (hants). Somewhere down near Southampton way I think.

Have a good look at the size of stables and how deep their school is before you place your pony anywhre. Chaeck it unannounced as well to make sure it is being cared for as you hoped. You may get a surprise

Why do either of these matter ? If I had a pony to be schooled and it was living out 24/7 and being schooled on grass then I wouldnt mind at all if it was a good rider and looked after pony well ! Also the pony is obviously only a small pony (from previous comments) so a small stable would be just fine Although of course I agree that I would go and see a yard before I sent a pony there (not that I ever would send pony away ... but that is another discussion ) Lexy.

Showpony- yes I am concerned about who i would be sending our pony to, but I feel it's our last option open to us. i am too heavy for the pony and there is only so much a child can do with schooling. There is also the problem of mum telling daughter how to ride then this turning into and argument!! I'm sure other mums can identify with this!!
the reason I started this thread was so that members could recommend someone.
If anyone has had any bad experiences I would really be grateful if you could PM me with details so that I would not send our much loved family pony away to someone who could be abusive or even useless and the pony return home worse than when he left.

Helen Baker is in Sussex and is an excellent trainer and producer of ponies and horses. She rides hacks, hunters and excels in the show ring but also breaks and schools ponies, too. A beautiful, sympathetic rider. Home Farm, Staplefield, Haywards Heath, Sussex.
Two lovely pix of her in last weeks H & H.
