Copper-Plus provides a boost of copper and its supporting minerals. Copper is an essential mineral for maximum performance, healthy bone growth and good coat quality, but is often lacking in modern horses. The 908gm tub is a 45 day supply. ONLY £23.95 BY EQUINE AMERICA www.tackdirect.co.uk

You shouldn't need to feed a copper supplement unless your soil is low in copper. I know some Fell people talk about lack of copper leading to the brassy highlights that some Fells get but I wouldn't have thought that was as much of a concern with a grey.
I've been experimenting this year and have found that feeding black sunflower seeds has resulted in one of my Fells being much blacker than usual......well that and the fact we haven't actually seen as much sun this year!

I have a copper deficiency in my soil and dispite feeding well balanced feeds to mine it affected their fertility.
I put them onto Coppertrition and this year they are all happily in foal. We also don't get any dicolouring in their coats especially the darker colours they turned orange!

guestless i asked my feed merchant about black sunflower seeds when i read that you fed them for condition (in another thread) they thought i was potty and had pigeons! can you tell me more about what they do and if they are just simply black sunflower seeds They seem to be this year's wonder feed - there's always one isn't there! Here's a quotes from another site and a link, rather than me waffling on! www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2189525/Main/2186342/I think the important thing is that you get the black sunflower seeds and not the standard stripey ones which aren't as high in oil.
