It's a good job you can keep your sense of humour and send us lovely reports without the whining and moaning on some other threads.I think some people must have thought you weren't being honest about conditions and were obviously expecting Smith's Lawn

How bad are the stables? I am due to travel Friday and stay Friday and Saturday night - I'm not having my pony lie in a pool of water. Can you clarify the state of the stables more accurately please.

Thanks for responding, it seems dreadful reading the comments and anticipating the worst. Will keep updated and make a decision on Thursday I think.

Someone said on another post that it would be sensible to use straw for bedding rather than shavings as they are just getting soaked, are we allowed to use straw at Hickstead? Because if we are then I will take straw instead of shavings, but don't want to get in trouble

Post by wet stable tip on Jul 26, 2007 20:38:51 GMT
we arrived at rwas last wkend to find our stables waterlogged.
we put down a bale of straw as the base, and then two bales of shavings on top. and then another 2 bales of straw on top of that.
This worked a treat and ponies stayed nice and dry, even though all around were flooded and one was digging for grass!
sorry if this is late for those of you at rihs.
