Hes a very handsome chap and sure he will come right with time but i thought going by the video he looked very disruptive on the go round. i dont think he is ready for opens. Sorry just my opinion. I do suspect the ground had a lot to do with it as he sliped down the short side. But well ridden by you and well done for persavering. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Aww little monkey, I know how you feel, I have it all to come with my new boy as well, only shown in hand so gets quite on his toes. You will get there in the end and it will all be worth it, good luck x

Lulah, of course he isn't ready for opens, it was only his second show. However when the choice of NPS classes was between open and open what is someone with a novice supposed to do? I was certainly not going to let him go home without being ridden in a class. As for being disruptive, I cannot control whether or not he slips on a particular bad patch of ground and I think he was very well behaved not to have kicked out at the pony behind him. I ride in the most respectful way to others as I can and withdraw if any behaviour would impact the performance of others. Thank you KMC, I look forward to seeing your new boy under saddle x

Lovely chap! Don't think he looked disruptive think he is going well for a previously shown in hand D stallion he was no different than the rest in a small slidey ring! I would be really pleased with him, he will mature into a lovely ridden and well done for riding him so positively!

I have a young stallion too and I think he did well in the go round, no obvious napping, no taking off, no bucking / rearing or screaming, don't think you could have asked for much more really on such a bad surface, maybe your transition to the canter looked a bit leggy leggy but he may have felt unsure and unbalanced on the slippy grass, well ridden x
