I have been showing for many years but usually show show hunter ponies, recently i bought an intermediate srt and have been watching some of the hoys qualifiers and see that individual shows include serpentines, walk to canter etc and was wondering whether this would be required in normal bsps classes also or just qualifiers? Thank you for any help

Judges will sometimes ask for a set show which may or may not contain these elements, if no set show is asked for then it will be down to the individual but as a transitionary class to the adult world you would expect to see something a bit more ambitious. That said, you are better off doing something your combination is comfortable with nicely rather than attempting a show they are not ready for and getting it wrong x

You will find most of your intermediates do something a little bit different than your normal show, but it is better to pull off simple well than fancy not so well. So do what you feel you can like overatdaknee said

Your meant to do the serpentine in all isrt classes it shows the riders progress also you get extra marks of rein back and extension. things like that really make a difference

The majority do a serpentine, either just trotting to change leads or doing a walk to canter. I personally dont really like seeing rein back in these classes, most importantly if you plan on doing walk to dangers, one handed etc it has to be made to look effortless or its better off doing something simple. It is blatent when inexperienced horses try and do the walk to canter without having much practice, it really ruins the show. Imo, the srt classes are basically small riding horses going like hacks...
