I don't have am issue with conf marks today... But the ride marks were ridiculous. At one point I witnessed the judge wander off behind the line up when shows were in progress... Missing most of the show! As they were being sent off so quickly, one person was halfway through by the time the previous competitor was finishing?!?!?!

I had a lovely day spectating today at my favourite show of the year, I watched the d, fell & dales and connies and nf, and I was disappointed to see the performance judge taking little notice or interest in a lot of the shows, and in some instances missing errors. She hardly watched any on the right rein at all, it is such an expensive show to enter the least she could of done was give each competitor her full attention! Also I understand the judges had been on their feet all day in the heat and the classes were huge, but they were sending the next pony out far too early meaning she could only possibly watch either the one starting or the one still halfway through its show! But well done to all the winners especially the gorgeous littletree limited edition who stood out to me the moment he stepped in the ring.

We watched the class yesterday and I agree it did seem they were sending them out about 30 seconds too early every time - some were changing the rein and nearly on the left rein and the the previous one was only just halting and saluting. Have to mention, I think it was Littletree Bold Impression - did the most beautiful ridden show and was lovely to watch.

I read a pony which spun round and bolted and got the highest ride mark.... That in itself would be extremely disheartening to anyone!! I think by the sounds of things the judge was disinterested which isn't very professional!

Yeah I thought conformation marks were very good, used the range and marked accordingly !

I am not getting in to what did or did not happen at GYS yesterday as I wasn't there. However the following is the direction given to judges in the BSPS Rule book when judging large classes, although it does not mention M&M's, but maybe this is the route they took (personally I feel this is rude to the competitors who have all paid the same entry fee, but that is only my opinion):-
'Rule 499. In Show Pony Classes and S.H.P. Classes where entries are very large and/or time is limited, it may be necessary for ponies lower down the line to give their shows two at a time.'
Additionally sometimes as a judge your are put under huge pressure by the chief steward if the classes are large and the ring is running late. All very unfortunate for the competitors involved.

Liza Rakovic But most HOYS M&M classes are not pulled in, in any order, so this would not apply. Every pony should be treated fairly and in the same manner.

Melody, I agree with you,(as I said I wasn't there) I was merely pointing out that there is a directive given to judges by a showing society to actually watch 2 at a time, which personally IMO I think is not only rude but impossible to judge fairly.
IMO if all the top end of the line muff their show it is quite possible for a pony lower down the line to move up and be placed, especially if, as can happen in a large class, you missed one on the go round. This is why, again IMO, I believe it is very important to watch each competitor from start to finish.
Timetables for shows are sometimes unrealistic, and then the organisers expect judges to perform minor miracles.

Not everyone in the top ten didn't deserve there placings, my mare had a 33 Ride mark (poor for her) but still a lot higher than many in the class and 46 conf mark (2nd highest) and ended up 8th
This class at the GYS has cost me near £200 after paying for stabling etc, very annoying when the judge doesn't even pay attention
