Hi how much do you all pay for hay from the field - collect from field and normal size bales? Some friends of ours have their field cut and the hay is reasonably good but I think they are a bit pricey as also it is not covered so we have to collect before it gets wet! Don't want to seem rude to them but they are completely non horsey and I think they look at price feed merchants are charging to fix a price!

Can't give you an exact price but if his helps, - we have a local farmer who hays ours for us and we have a 50/50 split over what comes off so we don't' pay him for doing it but if we want more than out half it's' £2.50 per bale for making it.

I get mine off a local farmer at £3.50 delivered and stacked. Can't buy from the field as I have limited storage available.

Agree, £3.50 seems pretty much the norm.

Thanks that is what I thought - know we are in expensive area think £3.50 off the field is reasonable - we have to pay between £4 & £5 a bale delivered - may need to explain to them the going rate!! or point them in the direction of this site!

I'm only down the road from you chloesmum, do you have small bales or rounds? I had a guy that delivered to me last year for £2.50 a bale.

I am on a yard where it is £4.00 small bale. Problem is it is not very good and you are not allowed to buy in from outside.
