We've just brought a beautiful traditional, problem being we have gone from having a hoys Welsh cob straight to this. Need any help and advice on societies to join, height (pony 14.2) and when do rihs and hoys start for 2015. Many thanks

You will need to join BSPA to do the RIHS and their champs (usually held at Houghton Hall / Keysoe) and CHAPS to do HOYS and their champs at Arena UK. Both need a height certificate at the start of the year.
Chaps is split at 148cm, and BSPA have 2 pony sections, one at 153-143cm and the other at <143cm
Have fun and enjoy! Coloureds are lovely classes but huuuuge!!

There were some 2015 qualifiers for RIHS at the back end of this season however the next qualifiers are in March, I think the HOYS qualifiers begin late April/early May but could be wrong as we only chased an RI ticket this season. Qualifiers and shows aside my advice for winter is pig oil pig oil pig oil - mud is a nightmare for rotting the feathers. Last thing you want is a trad with no feather for next season. Good luck x

Good luck x Pig oil is the best advice you could have. My young trad lost some of his last winter, but my older one didn't and never has. It was a hard lesson to learn. My youngster is wintering in the barn this year, not chancing it. Good luck, these classes are fab, I have really enjoyed my last 10 years with coloureds.
