In the past few weeks I have encountered 3 learners drivers on lessons with professional instructors (cars badged up) who behaved in what I would consider a dangerous manner. All in narrow situations, one where they chugged along a few feet behind me while I trotted on to a wider space for them to pass and twice I met them oncoming as I was passing parked cars on a narrow side road, there was nothing behind them and instead of waiting they have squished past me. I am not a rude road users if I see a car coming and its not safe to pass through a space I wait, and if I have started to pass I trot on so not to hold up the road. I don't blame the learners, I even signalled to one to stop as the space was so tight but was ignored, what really worries is what sort of instruction is being given and what hope do we have if the driving instructor have giving correct instruction? Have any of you encountered a horse while on a driving lesson and what were you told? These learners may have been told they did the wrong thing after the manoeuvre but there was look of remorse on the instructor's faces as they passed or hand of apology. I wish I had got the names of these instructors but to be honest its happened on the start of my ride and I have the memory of a sieve when it comes to names these days. Who would be the best body to approach with my concerns? Has anyone else had issues like this or have I just been unlucky? Would speak to BHS, Driving Standards Agency or anyone any other suggestions?

I was riding a green horse on a country lane and a driving instructor and pupil were coming towards me quite fast so I did the slow down signal with my arm. They did not slow down at all and horse spun and almost ended up being hit by their car! They just carried on?? I don't think instructors know what hand signals mean.

It needs to be dealt with. I believe it needs to be in theory and practical sessions and learners should have to know how to react etc in order to pass. I'm beginning to start driving lessons soon, but it's not just learners, all different ages! There are too many stories in the news around accidents due to a driver's dangerous driving!!
