Been out if plaited for some time and I've just purchased a lovely 15hh coloured I've noticed a few show in small hunters etc but I always thought they should be solid although I've seen coloureds so well too! Looking from county right to the top just wanted people's opinions thanks

As always, it will depend on the judge/s, some judges like coloureds, and judge them fairly, others will stick them at the bottom of the lime regardless. I currently have a coloured 143 shp/whp, in the show hunter pony classes at the bsps champs, he went fantastic in every class, the judges in the restricted, premier league, and pretty Polly hated him, but he beat a previos hoys winner and other hoys finalists in the champion of champions, and did very well in the challenge class. Do your research into the judges, watch other small hunter classes and see which judges will put a coloured up

As the saying goes , Agood horse can never be the wrong colour ,,,,, i've had the same sort of dilema with my mini horse , he is only 36" , but being a mini , he is clipped but unplaited , so has to do the plaited coloured classes , but despite his height , or lack of it , he has held his own county level ,give it a go and see what the feed back is , you will stand out in the crowd
