Those of you lucky enough to have their own land at home could I ask who you insure with?
we have been with NFU, for some reason they make us have two policies - one for the house and contents and one for the land and stables. I don't know why this is. This years renewal has just come in and is nearly 1k more than last year. we have increased the rebuild value of the house and stables following advice from a surveyor (costs have significantly increased in the last 10 years) by 100k. Proportionally however this shouldn't make the policy almost double surely?
is it worth me trying to shop around for quotes and if so who with? we are not farmers and it is for personal use only

I insure through South Essex. They insure my house and stables. Contents AA - they cover tack room as well as the house.

We insure with NFU too. But have an umbrella policy - we also ask each year when it's due for renewal if that's their best price and there's usually a reduction in the premium.
We've asked other local firms for a quote but they're always far more expensive and NFU are really good if by some misfortune you have to claim.

we actually use Direct Line - had a claim following storms for both the house, slates off, and a shed in one of the fields blew away - they were brilliant, and came out within 48 hours to assess and paid in full with no probe. They seem good value, and cheaper than NFU when I did some research - Give them a call.

try Hiscox. They are very good at being flexible.

I have a small holders policy because it covers me for livestock, buildings, DIY livery and limited employers liability. The house is separate.https://www.greenlands.co.uk/products
