My husband is thinking of buying some land as an investment, We have never rented land as we have our own, so I was just wondering what the going rate is in the North West for say a 5 acre field with a water supply and good road access? Also if it had a field shelter, or stable, how much more would this add to the cost? Many thanks

Hi, We rented a 5 acre field from the local authority last year with no stables, no field shelter and no running water. We had to fence the field ourselves snd keep our ponies secure. We poo picked twice a day and had to remove our muck heap. We paid £1400 per annum, which was cheap for Altrincham. We have since relocated and bought our own land. Hope this helps.

Hi, thank you very much. We are in South Cumbria which I would imagine is cheaper than Altrincham, but your answer has been very useful, we have looked at a couple of likely sites, one is rougher pasture, but has stables and good fencing already, and the other is nicer land but just grass. Will have a think, thanks again x

If you want to make money move South!!! A field opposite our friends house (where we were fortunate enough to be able to retire our old Intermediate) has just come up for rent. I would guess it is about 5 acres, has 2 stables but I would doubt it has electricity and no school, field would also need to be fenced into paddocks - how much ....... £125 a week!

Oh my goodness, that's expensive! Hooray for Cumbria, we might be cut off from the rest of the country, but at least we're cheap!
