I am in need of Car and trailer insurance, and having been with NFU for the last year, Does anyone have any experience of other companies that will cover both? NFU is fine but expensive I think, and as my renewal is due at the end of this month, I am looking for alternatives! Any help please.!!

Don't forget that breakdown cover for trailer & horses is included in NFU cover (or always used to be)so maybe not as expensive as at first appears

NFU don't include breakdown now!! That is an interesting mix fanfarefan - Can I ask who are PO? and what sort of car do you tow with, and therefore insure? I had always heard that E + L had a dreadful refutation and never paid up - has that changed now? Oh It is all such a nightmare. About the only plus of a lorry over a trailer for me, is the ease of finding insurance!!! I know I am spoilt with the trailer I have though !!!

D +B ,,,PO is Post Office , i went on Go Compare and got quotes , i have a Toyota Landcruiser , and have for many years gone with NFU , but they are just taking the mick now , far too exspensive , ,, but not heard that they dont do breakdown cover ,,, interesting !!!!!! , as for E+L , i have made several large claims and never in 30 odd years had a problem with them in any way shape or form,,, i know its an absolute nightmare

Ohhhh! Sorry for being a bit dumb - PO, yes of course!!!! Yes NFU is ridiculously expensive now, and they will do breakdown, but it is more money on top, it is not all included! Oh E + L sound OK then! I am sorry you have had the need to claim, but that certainly sounds a good recommendation! I will look into it all and see what the PO can do for me and the rest too! Many thanks

Sorry to hijack. I have bought myself a 4x4 for towing, with towing test booked. When I pass and want to start towing, can I just insure my trailer separately to my 4x4? As 4x4 will be insured with admiral from when I pick it up onwards...

Try PRP Rescue (OHTO) for your breakdown
