Wonderful news that Georgina did so well (sorry I dont follow you or know you so I'm not sure which class she was in). I just wanted to say that and show my personal support. I am relatively new to the showing world and have not really experienced any direct nastiness .... yet. I have however experienced a couple of times an unwillingness to assist overly which is such a shame in my view. I was at a show a couple of weeks ago and we entered a class rather late but not too late. Daughter finished a WH class and we needed to change tack for her next class so we shot back to the lorry and when done I pushed the pair of them in the direction of the ring with the instructions 'trot over to the ring'. I turned up 5 mins later to find my daughter in tears because the spectators would not let her in the ring (steward was in the ring). Ponies had not started trotting when she arrived but by the time I arrived they had. Secretary was aware we would be tight for time and was perfectly happy - in fact they said I could join the class even if they had started to trot. The spectators simply shrugged their shoulders and said that they thought she was mistaken and shouldnt have been in the class. No one had bothered to try to attract the attention of the steward. Judge allowed her in eventually but would not judge her. Next time I will make sure I am with her at all times. I suppose I should feel chuffed that my 9 year old daughter was such a threat in a class of 4 adults on ponies .... I find this such a shame but perhaps not reflective of all spectators. I am sorry for your daughter I was walking to the ring at Equifest this year and my hunter slipped on the concrete and flipped on to his side on top of me. The help from spectators and other competitors grooms was amazing. Half helped and half checked horse, who was miraculously unharmed. They all then helped up get ring ready (we were head to toe in brick dust) and got us in the ring. We went on to win and stand champion, got a huge cheer and lots of support. I was quite overwhelmed to be honest but it did demonstrate there are many good people in the show world still Anyone reading this who was there. THANK YOU

Oh Piper77, what a wonderful story. I do agree, please dont feel that I have the hump with all my fellow competitors. My daughter and I have only been showing for the relative short period of 4 years and during this time I have met some wonderful people and made some great friends too. Those 'others' are a very small minority.
