Fab new show ground. Amazed it went a head the committee have worked wonders to ensure show went ahead. A few teething issues but surely this show will go from strength to strength :-)))

Sutton Park is a lovely setting for show however...the organisers will probably learn a lot about this venue for future especially regarding the box parking.Today it was chaotic to say the least with drivers seemingly abandoned to fend for themselves to find somewhere to park in the farthest fields.
I think part of the problem was that there were too many rings. The workers rings were where they normally park boxes for the Huby and Sutton Ag Show which meant many of the boxes had be parked miles away! No doubt they will re think things if this venue is used next year.
Otherwise a very nice show with some well filled classes in some rings,at least on the Sunday.

I was over the moon when they found another venue to continue with the show and applaud the hard work in doing so and also keeping and running such a huge show but, please please can the 'little things' not be overlooked for yet another year.
The LR class we entered was placed to 6th and that was that!! I'm not sure about the other LR & FR classes but the SP RI class was again a sponsored class and stated in schedule that rosettes & smarties to all competitors. This also happened last year. On querying this matter for a 2nd year running I was yet again looked at like I was talking alien. Maisie was offered a place rosette from the spare box or a special to be ordered and sent on (thank you for that Claire) but we declined, it's about encouraging these kids in the ring and to have a 5yr old who is really excited when it comes to rosette time asking what colour they might get today then to have to walk them out the ring with nothing is heart wrenching to say the least. I think at £28 an entry for this class and sponsorship to boot you could at least order some special rosettes.
Now I'm a big believer in teaching them winning and losing from an early age and believe me Maisie is more than grounded in that department. She took it professionally but was so disappointed.
I know it wasn't just me who felt this way. And all I can say is thank god the hubby wasn't there. It cost me another £6 cos I ended up buying her a pony keyring with a Pom Pom on to make up for no rosette!!!!!!
Re, the parking, I was lucky to be there early so got a good place which was harder ground so had no problems getting in or out but that wasn't the case for the later arrivals. The ground wasn't the best as it was soft but there was a huge tractor there ready to tow people out.
Please re read your schedule and either change it or fulfill it. If there's no rosettes on offer after 6th place at least for warn us so we can prep the kids!!!

I was slightly bemused to be given a voucher for reserve champion in the Glyn Greenwood when the schedule stated champion £10, reserve £5 but hey ho we were more than pleased with our lovely boy yesterday.
Agree re the parking, we were parked in front of you Philippa, so no problems getting off but on the way out saw some poor souls who had an awfully long walk to the rings. Also not happy with being charged £3 for a catalogue which clearly wasn't complete.
But as said above this was a lovely venue which I'd never been to before, easy to find and I do recognise how hard the committee must have worked for the show to go ahead. Hope to be back next year x

Would agree with comments above - parking needs improving for next year, chaotic to say the least and catalogue listings very much incomplete. Thankfully weather was kind which helped with already soft ground. Otherwise good show.

Thank you, Joker was a super star as always x
We were in a bit of a rush first thing as we had two in different rings at 8am, then when we came back afterwards you must have been in your class as I couldn't see anyone at your box but I did come over to have a look x

Lol let you off. I had a pony who decided she had never seen cows before so did quite a bit of lunging. Turned out it wasn't the cows that we're going to be our problem but the fly that decided to land in her ear as we walked in the ring!!!!!

On Thursday the show did not look like going ahead as the ground was too soft for wagons. That was why they were parked over the beck. One judge did comment that is anyone complained about the walk Royal Windsor was a mile from the box park to the rings! There were too few helpers so there was no one to park them. If people want this and other shows to go ahead then the younger generation needs to be prepared to put in some work as well as enjoying your showing. We were on the ground for over 12 hours a day. Plus again too few to help put up rings. Phillippa please let me know the rosette complaint and I can sort it out with the show organiser, Margaret, who isn't on here. Changes are already being discussed, we have moved from 60 acres to 30. Increased from 1 day to 2. The team has halved , the work increased. How many of you are prepared to give up some time and help? Too many shows have fallen by the wayside , don't let The Hambleton be next. The only way for a complete catalogue is to allow no late entries, obviously this is what you all want and we will do this in future.

Judyh I've never been to Hambleton, but I also help run Cumberland, and like most shows we too struggle for helpers. We also have the complaint about the walk from the wagon park to the rings - but, like you we can only work with what we have. Good luck for the future, and well done on getting a new venue, and running a successful show.

Had a good day but I feel that ring 4 (RI M and M Ring) should not have as many classes in earlier in the day. The ring is always the last one of the day to finish because the RI Classes start so late. Could this be looked at again? Thank you.

We are looking at changing several rings round, we will be putting not before times . We know where you're coming from as we have to wait to run the supremes.

Hi, does anybody know how I can get hold of the marks for classes 96 and 100 (the novice & RI M&M WHP classes)? I've tried contacting the secretary Claire Green with no reply and was told at the show they would be put on the Facebook group but they haven't gone up. I really want to have a look at them so would be very grateful if anybody has them and can forward them to me. x
