I have had this product recommended for a patch of mallenders that is proving particularly hard to get rid of and is just at the back of one knee. I have read various reviews of this MTG Original that have said it has caused a massive allergic reaction on horses, but others have said it is amazing. Have any of you used this product - or indeed any other to successfully treat mallenders? I am currently using Heavy Horse Oil, which is helping a little but not marvellously and have also Oil 2 Horse, which was as much use as a chocolate teapot!! I don't mind how much a product costs, as long as it does its job, but having tried a few so far which have just been expensive dust collectors in my tack room, I am trying to do a little research before I buy yet another useless product? I hope someone can help please.

I have used it with no adverse reactions. I love the stuff and will recommend it to anyone. It's helped with his scabby knees and his mane has grown tons. The only thing I would say is put it on every other day at first until gone and then top up once a week. Some people say to patch test twice as well.

Thank you so much for your input, really appreciated. I suppose if I buy it and patch test it first over 48 hours, then I should have a fairly good idea of whether or not it will cause any adverse reactions. Think I'll give it a go.

Waspblue have you tried this yet? Just wondering if you had any success if so.

Hi comanchediva,
I have to confess to having a last shot with the Shire Oil Co Itch Buster oil and also some Nettex Feather Mite powder, as I had them in already, so thought I'd use it up, but the Shapleys will most likely be my next option if I have no luck. I'll let you know if I do try it though? I am gathering that you may be also battling the same issue and am wondering what you have tried and if anything has been effective at all please?

Hi waspblue, mostly Equimins mud block lotion which contains particles of silver, bacteria can't live on silver. Whatever we use though, it's so hard to keep on top of we have soooo much mud. We lime them to go in the field every day but have started turning out alternate days to give their legs and feathers a rest from the mud

I have a welsh cob who has this problem and after having tried just about everything I have found that just plain baby oil seems to work the best massaged in everyday
