Thank you Ferret, Lacy was a very good girl even though the class was held up over an hour and we all stood freezing outside the ring. When I say all, I mean the entire class of 20 something a lot of cold ponies and riders.

Well done she went and looked fab. Yes, it was freezing, blowing a gail, pouring down on and off all day!
PLEASE PLEEEEEASE bring it back to Richmond next year - call us spoilt but the food, toilet facilities and hour plus wait for the class really put a downer on the day, not to mention the builders tape around the rings, constantly flapping in the wind... even the dogs were spooking at it! :-(

I think it was only there as Richmond was double booked. Must say it wasn't the most pleasant day we have ever had at a show and think even if sun had been shining it wouldn't have made things seem much better. Well done CHAPS for keeping in the NE but hopefully it will return to a better venue in 2010

As have said on other posts, Richmond was not available as they were running their own 2 day British Eventing event that weekend. We are committed to that date as the HOYS qualifiers have to be then so as not to clash with others.
This was very much a one off to keep the show in the NE area. Once we have lost it we will not get it back!
There is a new purpose built equestrian facility opening within the next year in this area and I am already in discussion with the owners over a move there if at all feasible. The problem with other equestrian centres in the area are they simply do not have enough parking let alone ring and working in space. Even Richmond was very tight in the parking department and there was not very much working in space.
Regarding the delay in the start of the HOYS classes, the evaluations were moved forward to 11.30am from the initial 12 start stated in the schedule, and with only 6 entries it is easy to see how it could be assumed this would be done in half an hour. The judges however for whatever reason were very thorough in their evaluations, and it somewhat over ran.
Regarding the tape, this was used for safety reasons the thinking being that it would snap should a horse become tangled in it, whereas rope would not. Having what happened last year at I think Ponies UK south in mind, with rope and post fencing, and the tragic outcome, it was used with the best of intentions, though in the weather conditions on Saturday it was not ideal.
Anyone wanting marks please email the show email address and I will email them back to you!
