Igiveup I fully agree with you the judging was not facey and I am very pleased for the girl who won the D class, most people are saying they were disappointed with the low show marks given even when the ponies went well, but at the end of the day the bigger cobs were the judges choices and the majority of people are happy with that. But I am desperate to know who the winner was as no one seems to know.

The black D with the 4 whites couldnt have been Wexland Daffydd Du could it?? affectionately known to his friend as 'BIG trot Dave!'
Apologies if I got it wrong but think it may be him as he always stands out from the croud to me - love him!!

Didnt quite agree with the Sec C and Sec D classes, they clearly liked the really heavier types, but there is always another day, for the more pony typy Sec C's. the C winner looked like a small D and didnt in my oppinion do the best show, there were better shows on the day! Heya, Umm - Sec C's are small D's, they have exactly the same breed standard, height should be the only diffrence between the best exhibits of a sec C & D pony! xxxx

Exactly, they have the same detailed breed standard, just divided for height.

Im not sure but that may even apply to Section A's too!! I really do think that some people need to read up on the breed standards of natives as it seems a lot of people really dont have a clue. Somebody once sniped that one of my D's "looked like a heavy C" because he is small it made me laugh as they clearly didnt have a clue what they were talking about!

Detailed Description of Sections C and D General Character Strong, hardy and active, with pony character and as much substance as possible Colour Any colour, except piebald and skewbald Head Full of quality and pony character. A coarse head and Roman nose are most objectionable Eyes Bold, prominent and set widely apart Ears Neat and well set Neck Lengthy and well carried. Moderately lean in the case of mares, but inclined to be cresty in the case of mature stallions Shoulders Strong but well laid back Forelegs Set square and not tied in at the elbows. Long, strong forearms. Knees well developed with an abundance of bone below them. Pasterns of proportionate slope and length. Feet well-shaped. Hoofs dense. When in the rough, a moderate quantity of silky feather is not objected to but coarse, wiry hair is a definite objection. Middlepiece Back and loins, muscular, strong and well-coupled. Deep through the heart and well-ribbed up. Hind Quarters Lengthy and strong. Ragged or drooping quarters are objectionable. Tail well-set on. Hind Legs Second thighs, strong and muscular. Hocks, large, flat and clean, with points prominent, turning neither inward nor outwards. The hind legs must not be too bent and the hock not set behind a line falling from the point of the quarter to the fetlock joint. Pasterns of proportionate slope and length. Feet well-shaped. Hoofs dense. Action Free, true and forcible. The knee should be bent and the whole foreleg should be extended straight from the shoulder and as far forward as possible in the trot. Hocks flexed under the body with straight and powerful leverage. Taken from the WPCS website, the section C ponies and D ponies share a description. VERYamused heres a link, take a look www.wpcs.uk.com/ponies/sectioncd.html

All this debate is good, but it doesn't help me keep the qualified ponies list up to date, lol!! Anyone with names, please add them.

Your welcome Emma, take no notice of some of the nasty remarks that you read on this site its full of green eyed monsters! You have a nice typey pony that represents the breed well and you should be proud. I hope your proud of your win and just think how lucky you are to have qualified so early in the season, you can kick back and relax now!

I am very proud of him, he is everything i ever wanted. And what makes it even better is that i have had him since he was 3 and have produced him myself. I couldnt believe it and had to keep pinching myself. It means we can concentrate on the workers now. Thanks again

Emma, I too thought your C was nice & did a fab show, personally I wouldn't argue with any of the top 6 so enjoy your success & take no notice of anyone else's opinion.
As some one else with a pony I've owned since a youngster & done everything with off to HOYS I know just how much it will mean to you - and all your work has just been rewarded. CONGRATULATIONS ;D
