From what I saw of the champion, did not watch all the classes as was only there showing in-hand ponies Joni Jones was a very worthy champion and flew around the ring. If you don't know Gemma is Debbie Thomas jockey and from what i gathered on the day, she had the Tyngwndwn C mare there as well, and had shared a lorry with Arwel Davies, Adel, Joni Jones's usual jockey could not attend the show as she was out of the Country, who I am sure is gutted and wished she was there, so get a life everybody, everybody has a connection somewhere and sometimes it's a good job, it would be a very sad life if you don't have friends. please bear in mind before criticizing Mark's judging Jill Williams gave him two clear points to win the confirmation so she rated him higher than Mark who only gave him one point advantage.

bemused darling, all you have to do is type your "tastes" into google and wham...you have hundreds of sites to choose from!! ha ha, dont ask how i know though!! would give this lot doing the bit*hing something to take their minds off showing for a minute or 2! i do wonder if they would have the guts to say anything to anyones faces, though i doubt it!!! atleast with these alternative sites they can be as rude as they like and no one cares!!!!

I loved the C mare that won the Hoys class, beautifully produced and went like a dream, worthy winner.
Personally cant comment on the D class as i know nothing about these people, although if there are connections between judges and competitors like has been said surely they shouldnt show under them?!?!

Sadly NP, my tastes only run to "showing" dread to think what google would make of this! This site keeps me off the streets though, I can enjoy my bottle of wine in the comfort of my own home whilst gaining an insite into the underworld of my chosen vice.

Soo glad I am out of showing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its this "potential" corruption, that keeps rearing its ugly head thats drives genuine people out of showing To you, who now who you are, it won't be long till u r the only onres left!!! then what r u going to do? will stick to our show jumping now. after all if we knock a fence, its 4 faults.not some "person" preference! Tanina yes I admit who I am, & why we got out of showing

Well done to the conformation judge in the hoys M&M who did a fantastic job. Not facey at all. Ride judge All us stood around the ring are not stupid, you made yourself look a fool. Anything the conformation judge liked, the ride judge gave bottom marks, (even if they did a good show) Judges should walk in the ring separate and stay separate until they have finished giving marks. If that isn’t possible, don’t tell your co judge what ponies you like. Bent judges use it to their advantage. you'll have to ask the stsable jockey what he is on ;D

hi Tanina - you must have some residual interest - hence why are you viewing this thread? Once an addict always an addict. I know I cant help myself

i agree with Tanina, its enough to send people into other disciplines as i have already said...so when all the good genuine folk who once enjoyed showing leave, what happens? make the rings smaller, forget the horses and have a boxing match instead!! may as well the way some go off....and just remind me, which shows are the ones with thousands of pounds in prize money?? oh thats right non of them!! so now im wondering why people sound so pee'd off and desperate...its a game for christ sakes!!

The trouble is there is so much corruption at the top level. Very few play straight these days and if they do they have to play up to those that don't or be d**ned. The saddest thing is when younger professionals and judges lose respect through thinking they are bigger than they are. M&M showing is by far the worst now. Has it really become Crooksville?

Exactly. I keep going on the basis that i really do love showing and have to accept the reality of the game I am in. The reality is that judges are only human, and like all walks of life there is the corrupt - and there is the honest Johns. Some are in the middle (a bit of both). It is just a bit much at times to see blatant faciness. I am getting very much off topic as I wasn't at this show - but do understand the frustrations of people who feel robbed and if it helps to offload - then thats OK

Well we're only little unknown people but we had a lovely day in the sunshine. Thought show was very well run, with EXCELLENT commentary - thank you to everyone concerned for all your hard work. Got two 2nds with our connie and biggest thrill of all was getting round the RIHS m&m whp, first one our novice has ever done (just wish there had been more xc fences and then he would have left them all up!! lol) Mum and jockey thrilled. Great day.

Also unknown lol, had a fab day, great show, stunning ponies everywhere. Chuffed to bits when daughter and pony got round the RIHS course with only a pole. Unfortunately it clashed with the hoys A nB section, we did the go round and had to leave couldnt really take him back in after going through the water and him being grey, what can i say he certainly didnt look his best lol.

We went to the show and would definately go again next year. Such a lovely venue - the weather really helps though! Well run and was completely unaware of the "politics" of certain judging. Everyone gets the rumour that such a person will get their ticket this week but if you listened to them all you would never get out of your yard and show. If you enjoy it - just get out and enjoy - hopefully at one show you will have "your day". From one person always living in hope!!!! Well done to all at Derbyshire Festival for organising and giving their time.

Watched HFD Class: 1st Vicky H on Dales - been Olympia and HOYS 2nd Sterlingdene - Olympia and HOYS 3rd Castlehill Flash - Olympia and HOYS
Never spoken to Gemma James, she rides beautifully and Nebo Johnny Jones is a prolific breed winner. She obviously hasnt broken any rules and ringside opinion is she deserved to win. Please help me, am I being thick but how can you say the judging was biased when you have ponies that shone with their track record. When you have been showing a while you can find a connection with everyone. We even paid for a judges coffee once, shoved my daughter of her chair so she could sit down - did us no favours at all.

Well, I think I must have been at a different show to most of the poster's here!!
Agree - the show was run to perfection, superb site, heaving with lorries ("recession - what recession"!!) and great, hardworking team.
But the HOYS classes - most of you seem on a different planet to what I managed to see!
So, I Disagree - that 'it was all set up'.
No-one has bothered to comment that the Ride Judge cleverly asked for an 'alternative' individual show - one with the gallop first - few delivered - or the simple fact that the entire team in that ring were still standing upright and smiling after such a marathon day.
I, for one, felt like keeling over during the afternoon, the heat was quite intense, but, those Judges can't do that, now can they?
Someone mentioned to a moaner - to (try to) get on a judges panel and try to do the same yourself... what a good idea.
No-one mentioned that there were frequent, pleasant, kindly, commentary requests to NOT drop litter or leave muck on the ground - yet by the afternoon the place was littered.
If the moaners perhaps vented their fury on the litter-louts instead of the voluntary Judges.... now - there's an idea!!

I thought it was wonderful to see some new faces at the top of the lines, with some lovely new ponies coming through, not the expected few, a refreshing change in show and a lovely show on a lovely day!

i left showing ages ago because i couldnt stand being in the ring with 40 other sections b's/c's and already knowing who the winner was, no matter how well the other ponies went. showing is as corrupt as can be, why not turn to showjumping, its so fair. even dressage is corrupt, disagree with me on this one if yoou want but its true i do think the judging was fine in the hoys, maybe not in the d's but its happpened, its the past, its not going to change so i suggust we leave this thread now, forget and those who feel they shoul have qualified insted of the "cheating" ones; go out again and try again under fair judges lucy x

We had a lovely day and happily were placed in our class even though we have never shown under either of them before and I do know that the ride judge told the person stood next to us that whilst he really liked their pony , it had not gone well enough , saw most of the classes except the small's and can say all the winners gave good shows possibly would have disagreed with the nf / connie winner but thats just my thoughts on the classes the section C/B certainly went very well .

We too are relatively unknown and had a fab day! Our little section b who we bought from the sales unbroken was champion RIHS WHP and our to novice WHPs were champion and reserve open WHPs. We gave up flat ponies long ago, I had a fab welsh D but just couldn't face being sat in the ring for hours on end. WHPs is the best of every world! Once again great show thanks NCPA Derbyshire. There will always be some disappointment at every show with that level of entries.

The weather was fantastic, I sat on a deck chair at the side of the ring, just short of a glass of wine. Over the moon with my Connie, we got top conformation mark clear by 2 marks, but unfortunately got bottom ride mark. I would rather have it that way round, it nice to know who likes your pony as he is new for me this year, so we are not sure yet. The glass is half full not half empty, roll on three counties...
