Looking at riders at PUK and BSPS short jackets still seem to be the in thing , but what about waist coats under tweeds jackets , pink tweeds , pink shirts & ties , banana yellow joddies and short sleeves with cuffs showing ? What do you think will be the new trend this season ? Also Ive just bought a waist coat to go under my jacket to brighten it up a little , but now am not sure as no-one else seems to wear them? do they no something i don't ?

I saw some rather odd looking new tweeds in an advert - I think it may have been in Showing World magazine but not totally sure. They were tartan-looking

well if you want to start a new fashion by wearing a waste coat, go for it i say :-)
We have a silver grey connie so wear a colour that matches him really, which happens to be Blue.

We have a grey sec A and we have a dark blue tweed with yellow and blue running through it it looks great on the pony! we are not into fashion just choose outfits that show the picture off to its full potential! We also have bright yellow jods and they look fantastic!
Forgot to say we haven't used waistcoats this year!

Well i have a light grey and a very dark grey my jacket is PP 0009 , its dark green with mustard and burgundy over check with navy velvet collar , so Ive picked out the colours in the jacket and decided to use a navy tie with mustard spots and then i thought a burgundy waistcoat to brighten it up ! ahh well back to the drawing board for me ! Pink tweeds not in this year then

Pink tweeds, Interesting!! I think as long as things are not over the top then some of the brighter coloured shirts and ties are ok, Ok I know its moving away from some of the more traditional outfits, but things move on, classes are bigger and you have to do what you can to make yourself stand out from the crowd As for waistcoats, I keep thinking how hot I was in just a shirt and jacket, nevermind adding another layer! I am not overkeen on the smaller/tight fitting jackets though, .

I like to have a different tweed to everyone else, as like lala says classes are bigger and you need to stand out!!!!
I think the smaller/tighter jackets are nice when they are correctly made. There's nothing worse than a big long jacket covering the back of the pony.

Its pretty ponies , its not dead short but not long enough to touch the pony , it fits perfectly everywhere else so not too worried about it looking like ive not grown into it yet ! SP / SHP riders tend to go shorter but m & m people have them a bit longer . thats how ive noticed it anyway !

I have my jackets made by Show Scene, they are quite expensive but worth it I think.
In have just had a new one made which is darker brown.

IMO, and that's all it is, the shorty jackets are not at all attractive, and tend to look as if they've been outgrown. Or shrunk in the wash. But to avoid being got at, may I just say how lovely all members of this site look in theirs! XXX.

I have accidentally become a fashion victim. My jacket had to be shortened.(I'm a midget) and it has now become a bum hugging outfit .Thankfully the sleeves still go below the cuffs of my shirt.I have a waistcoat,it was bought when I was trying to do side saddle but it only gets worn when it is hot and I am doing inhand classes.

My daughter is the height of fashion then, her short tight jacket and the cuffs showing is a fshion statement - I just thought the jacket was too small for her !!!

he he skint i think my daughters the same then. put her jacket on this weekend body quite short (although looks fine when on pony) but she must have lost weight as last year it was tight n its now got tons of room the arms are also a little short so i told her she has to turn cuffs up on her shirt and wear her bigger gloves !! caus im skint this month paying for all the entries

Saw some REALLY short jackets at the BSPS champs !! Short jackets look naf and cheap. The true pro's go for the well cut, well fitted image. still can't beat a Bernard Wetherill. Fit like a glove and look like a star

When you get to a certain age covering up is much more preferable. Things don't exactly sit where they are supposed to when you are the other side of 40!!
My jacket hides a multitude of sins!! Oh how I wish I was a stick insect!!

i quite like the shortish jackets (or snugger fitting ones) as long as they are not very very short! I think snug looks better than big jackets, more flattering in my opinion. I am however (i am sure to many peoples dissaporoval) a fan of the cuffs coming out slightly at the end of the jacket, i think this stems from having ridden for a family when i was younger who like to have the cuffs poking out and i thought it always looked very smart, well until the pony wipes all their black across it! Goody Goody can't agree more with your comments on bernard weatherall jackets i was very very lucky to aquire one last year!! I always feel smart in it, something i always use to fail to feel! Does anyone else ever feel though that like in life with normal clothes some people just always look better, smarter and more well turned out then you however hard you try!!!??

What about yellow shirts on show ponies ? I think they look good but on hunters , i prefer pure white shirt bright red tie and short snug jacket on show ponies , leave the longer baggier jackets with yellow shirts to the hunters ?
