Interesting thread, the ticket may have been predicted as I think a lot are in both HOYS and Olympia's - but at the end of the day he is a very good pony, a consistent winner and if the judge likes him anyway then unless he did something drastically wrong in his show surely there is no reason why he/she should change her mind and put him down the line. If the the pony was a complete also ran who had never ever won anything before and then came out and won a qualifier, now that would be cause to be disgruntled and disillusioned - but really isn't much different to I dunno - predicting Kauto Star would win the Gold Cup!

Another Olympia ticket predicted correctly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need Shakespeare!!! Where are you? I need an ode? ? Where has Shakespeare gone Where has happened to him? ?? I think he could be either be ;- a) on an Island somewhere with Elvis and Michael Jackson OR b) some BRIGHT spark has hired a hit man to get rid of him ;D disillusioned I spent £120 on fuel today and was told the winner as I drove onto the show field. Yes they were right as well. I think a raffle would be a fairer system.

After reading threads on here there seems to be a winner at every show before the horses have even entered the ring,it is a shame showing is like this!

get a grip, the pony is an absolute star, judge is known to like him, why wouldn't he qualify? There will be some lesser animals going to olympia thats for sure - guestitis striking again methinks!

I would like to remind people, if you hear predictions regarding tickets, you are able to PM details to a moderator of this forum, which we will then keep on record privately for you. That way it stops any discussion before a class. Also, if it's on record prior to the class, we know it's not just sour grapes when the wrong (or right!) person wins!

Does anyone know how many ponies were forward in total for this qualifier ? I would guess it was probably not many more than the Hoys section D class at chesire Co ! I happen to know that the connie/nf classes have been particularly poor this year in terms of numbers perhaps it should be the champions from the Hoys classes coming forward to Olympia at least you could be sure they had been picked fom a much larger pool . I'm sorry to say that I can't help but think that unless there is more support Olympia will cease to be .

Congratulations to Georgia Darlington Supreme of Show with Wortley Celebration - well done team Darlington. Have to say I really enjoy this show - lovely venue and atmosphere - as far as judging goes I only saw 3 Olympia classes but felt they were really strong and well judged. Don't know this judge - she pulled our pony in fairly low which we couldn't understand as thought he stood out but then she moved him up to 4th which we felt was fair. Also she certainly wasn't facey in the connies/newfies but knew what she liked. We just had a nice day out. Took the 'old boy' and the 'new boy' - just nice for Chloe to have a class to ride Snip in - and we felt 2nd to Rhos Emblem was a good result in the riding pony class & reserve champion. Thanks to Jo Love for partnering him to win the Int SRT and well done with being champion WHP with Derek. Our baby Glentons Adonis was my star - 2nd show and was 1st part bred - such a good boy he had to wait all day on the lorry for last class in the heat and was so good. Well done to all who got their tickets but more importantly just enjoyed a nice day showing.

i didn't see or hear any bad sportsmanship as i was too busy cheering for my beloved niece, lauren on her beautiful connie, glencarrig duke. i don't think it was a fix as waxwing rheel looked fabby and went really well. of course i did set a few land mines in the ring to try and get rid of the competition but they failed to go off!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Well I have to agree about the show on the whole, I love the venue anyway and was the first time I have been and I had a wonderful day. Even my non horsey best friend came for her first show and thoroughly enjoyed herself so that tells you something

Well done Georgia Darlington and Family. Well deserved championships today. Lovely little rider and such a lovely family. We also enjoyed the show as always, very pleased with our results only second time out this season for one of the ponies and had a great win and results in another class. Not sure about the sun burn though think I be paying for that later. Well done to all today

Think the nps area 20 crew should give themselves a massive pat on the back. So rare to find a show that offers so many different classes and qualifiers, they worked so hard. We had a fab day (no - we didn't even get anywhere in the class we went for!). Watched the Olympia qual and the classes were extremely strong, full of olympia and hoys ponies, so think it is a bit unfair to criticise champ and reserve who have both been very successful.
Congrats to everyone on the comittee. Next year, could you get a stall selling aftersun as we have come back looking a tad beetroot - maybe its the pinot, but everyone there looked like they were glowing. x

There will be some lesser animals going to olympia thats for sure Hardly!?! All the other ponies will move forward and according to their breed..deosn't matter that much, it hasn't got a chance in the final...

Post by lexy on Jun 27, 2009 23:52:00 GMT
Why do you think it hasnt got a chance at final when it was 4th at HOYS in 2008, and 11th and Best of Breed Sec C at Olympia 2007 ?!
Blimey, why are people so quick to say something bad rather than just being happy for the people who have qualified and say CONGRATS !!
Anyone know any of the in hand results ?

Attacking this pony is pretty silly. He has qualified HOYS for 6 years on the run, and won the best part of 2O Olympia Classes. He has done 5 Olympia classes this year, winning 4 with a Reserve at Windsor!

He has done 5 Olympia classes this year, winning 4 with a Reserve at Windsor! Congratulations to the Bright family. Waxwing Rheel has unquestionably been the most consistent pony of the 2009 season under many judges. He thoroughly deserved his Olympia qualification at Area 20 and looked every bit the worthy champion on the day. Mrs Woods put through a pony who is a good example of his breed, can be relied on to perfom at Olympia and do her judgement proud. Well done Robert and the ponies breeders Tom Best & David Blair

Have to say I agree with lots of the sentiments today - fab show, well run and great to have so many different classes. I think the Olympia judge was fair and wasnt afraid to move ponies around. She watched everyones shows the whole time and watched all the strips - which is more than a lot of judges I have been under this year have. I didn't think she was facey at all. Rheel is one of the most successful section c's around and deserved his win and qualifier yesterday. I felt all the winners of their classes couldnt have taken the ticket so guess it comes down to personal choice. The only thing I wld still say about olympias is I do feel it is a very closed shop were certain ponies will always get there tickets each year. It takes brave judges to put new faces through and I actually think this is reflected in the small entries of Olympia classes. Yesterday did have good entries for an Olympia class which obviously reflected peoples opinion of the judge but it is still interesting to see how small the classes are to the HOYS classes Maybe this will change next year with the new rule
Well done NPS Area 20 x

I have to say the Olympia classes were very strong today and I thought she did a really good job and took her time and watched everything and rewarded mannerly shows.
The leid rein winner was Oliver Burchell with Ysselviedts Glamour Boy and the first ridden winner was Pennyworth went beautifully.
A big congratulations for the Supreme of Show it looked stunning:)
