Having just arrived back home from P(UK), I would agree that last night, a tannoy warning was given, to "be aware of the wareabouts of your posessions", (and a riding hat had also gone missing the previous morning) but have not heard the exaggerated amount of goods as has just been posted on here.
Some items of a personal nature went missing last year, too.
That is unfortunately unusual at shows.
I would suggest that the poster may have sensationalised the event................?

don't think it was sensationalised, they were camping in front of us, and although i didn't see them removed (!) heard the saga from our neighbours who watched the whole thing. as i remember about 3 older teens /young 20s girls and one boy, no adults , at least i don't remember any. had a lorry, and green gazebo and spent a lot of time sunbathing on the tuesday!! (obviously inbetween other activities!). apparently given an ultimatum by security, either leave or be reported to the police. don't know what horses/ponies they had as didn't pay them much attention as we were really busy all show. they must of been only interested in new things(!) as we are really lax about leaving things unlocked,/out, and don't chani generator etc. might well from now on!!!

Absolutely disgraceful, their identities should be made known to all showing societies and their memberships to PUK and any other societies revoked. Agree with OB, other people's property should be respected and protected, sounds like they got off lightly to me. If it had been my property stolen I would have insisted on the police being involved.

We have also lost something a m+m browband we definetley havn't lost it as we have looked all round our stables that we had their and all through the lorry. It's just mean and we had a spare stable to put our stuff in but the stable manager said put shavings in cause if not someone will pinch it. I agree milliesmum if anyone has stolen anything or not paid for anything people should be banned from ponies uk and have their membership taken off them.

I've just got back from P(UK) and whilst we were there i put my saddle on the metal railings whilst stripping the pony but then noticed out the corner of my eye a group of people hanging around and not watching the class! and then saw one of them nod to my saddle to one of the group so i went and leaned on it for the whole time it was off the pony's back! And it's a brand new "samantha" They should be named and shamed! Disgusting

the person involved was spotted in the concours class as somebody that had given dodgy cheques at other shows, they were taken out of the ring & questioned where they admitted that they were paying for goods with cheques but actually had no money in account. they have been banned from puk shows and i am sure all info will be passed on to other societies.

Seemingly I was in the right (or wrong) place at the wrong time and managed to see and hear nothing of this heist. What SODS.
Trade stand people work so hard for their living. I have done 'trade stand work' in my time, both here, at big events such as Burghley & HOYS and at Trade Fairs on the Continent - yes, I've seen 'petty pilfering' (key rings, hoof picks and the like) but nothing on this scale.
Shocking.

We were parked by a group of lads and one girl who had one car pass (to the sponsors area) and were passing it from car to car. The first night there were 2 tents and 3 carloads, by Thursday night there were 5 cars and 4 tents, the language and drunken behaviour was appalling. I was pitched next to them and spent the weds night awake due to the drunken loud conversations and F*ing and Blinding till 1am, fortuately they then shut up. Worse was to come on Thur night, they started at midnight and were fighting, swearing and peeing up people's tents, starting up their cars and driving up and down (all blind drunk), I lay in my tent terrified at what they would do next. My brand new car was parked next to their's, am amazed they didn't ram it. When we asked them to please keep the noise down we got a torrent of abuse, it was only when I burst into tears due to tiredness at 3am they shut up. There was no security about, when I asked Security for help the following day they said the night guards had been asleep on the job and were sacked that morning. According to the Supreme lady one of the trade stands was broken into that night when Secuirty were asleep? There needs to be more security, how on earth did these people get in, when as far as I can see they were just there on a freebie, nothing to do with any competitors or sponsors??? As for the thieving travellers, name and shame! We all work d*mn hard for what we have, what gives them the right to steal???

Disgusting! Agree the security wasn't really upto much. I was walking back to our lorry, at 2 this morning and saw a group of lads messing around the stables. They had turned all the water taps on. I turned them off, gave them a bollocking and told them if they didnt 'go away' i would ring the police. Did go looking for security but no-one around.

Are you sure they had turned taps on and had not maybe wet themselves?? Let the dogs out after your departure and they chased a merry gang of lads screaming into the distance....................

Omg! A week of camping and staying away with your ponies is supposed to be a pleasure, now we all like a little fun, but this can be kept quiet, people should learn to appreciate that just because there class is not on at 8AM other peoples classes may be!
And as for the thieves, that is dispicable, I dread to think what the upbringing of these individuals was like, must have been awful that they think it's funny/acceptable!
I agree with the majority, name & shame .. who knows they may be among us, and we dont want lightning to strike twice Im sure this could be prevented if we know the exact identity of these tear-aways!!

If the organisers were on the ball with regard to security surely these kind of situations wouldn't be allowed to get out of hand, they would be nipped in the bud at the first sign of trouble. Yes people's behaviour is their own responsibility, but surely PUK take enough in entries to provide a safe environment for the honest competitors?

I have to say that I was parked near the people in question and saw them being asked to leave - however, at this point I did not know what for.
I think the security did a fab job as they caught them and got them off the show ground - then I think PUk did what they could by making an announcement for people to be wary - I don't know what else they could have done as naming and shaming could cause legal issues.
Also I quite often saw security driving around and walking around the show ground - although I do think it is terrible if car passes were being passed around!

name and shame - would be good! or even their horses!! Can't believe this happened- we are so forgetful when it comes to locking things away- last year at PUK left a side saddle in an unlocked wagon for whole week!!

Someone pinched my dads sponsors passes out of his car.
Also the other year all our horses head collars were pinched the night before we left.

How people manage to aquire things with no money is amazing. No I am not going to try it, just can't believe the cheek of some people! But then people in question have no morals or values I reckon. Did they have any animals there?

princessv : i dont agree with naming and shaming their horses because at the end of the day they are inoccent animals and have nothing to do with it unlike there fools of owners !! although i agree that the people involved in this should be named and shamed they are so out of order yes like many people have stated the trade stand people work hard for a living and there money and no-one should be able to take away theor sorce of income ( their goods ) away from them !! there was definetly a lack of security but hopefully p(uk) will learn form this ordeal and improve it by next year !!

I think this was the people stabled next to our filly (I saw the security at their "camp" Saturday night), if so I think Ponies UK should strip them of any prizes they won, as they shouldn't get the recognition of doing well whilst scamming others.
