i will not be attending Mottrom Show again, appauled by the judging. How somebody that came off in the ring can still go onto win is disgracefull!!

I thought the show was v poor. Ridden rings too small, classes split mid way through and competitors then asked to canter on one rein only? In one class I saw they only had to canter the long side as in a riding lesson when you canter to the back of the line. I appreciate this was from a safety point as the ring wasn't big enough but make it big enough. Entries are in advance so the organisers know how many exhibitors to expect.
It was sub-riding club level not what you would expect from an agricultural show.
I certainly won't be competing there.

That is disapointing. I didn't make it this year but have competed there in the past and have always enjoyed the show.
Have you given some feedback to the organisers ? It is always helpful to do so.

I did question the judging of the vetrans as the one that won ran off and was terribly underweight but the judge told me she had judged on how well they look for there age, at this point i realised i was wasting my time so we loaded up and went home

rockafella re the veteran do you mean the ex racer?
I'd never showed there myself before and wasn't really impressed at all by the show ground!

I was judging elsewhere but at the april show I witnessed the worst and most 1960s judging I have ever seen. The young handlers were expected to pick ponies feet up, trot round together in circles and back up....... The judge was olwyn brown and she was just terribily dangerous and would even be obsolete in modern pony club. To top it of we were towed off and the tractor lad tried to extort a fiver out of me. I did ring to complain. PLEASE PLEASE all of you.....ring and complain to the sec Mrs Mansfield. She really needs some modern judges with recent showing history. Its such a shame because that is our local agricultural show. There really is no excuse for the kind of judging that Mottram is currently subjected to!

Unfortunately for Mottram the judges probably wouldnt even know not to allow a remount and continue...........that is how archaic it really is. PLEASE COMPLAIN!!!
