I really dont mind the mucking out, (the clean ponies obviouslyy ) I find it quite relaxing! However some of the jobs that come with looking after the troops I could rather do without!!!!!!!! some of these include: Poo picking the fields : especially after the birds have spread the muck (when I win the lottery I will get a pooper hoover and pay someone to do it!!!!!!!! ) Fixing the fenced, especially electric fencing Sweeping the yard!!! So what jobs do you hate doing most and which one dont you mind? ? (you can tell I am board at work!! )

Great tip Rose will try that one......
Apologise to those who are squeemish.....but my worst job is "sheath cleaning".........I think that is why I prefer mares......it is just the smell and the ickyness of it that turns my stomach.....
2 pairs of rubber gloves.....are a must.........
The other job I hate is sorting out rugs to got to the cleaners....it is such a drag.......wish I could find a local dial-a-rug company who could come and do it for me.......and return them in 5 days!!!!
I am also not very keen on emptying the horsebox toilet......especially went naughty jockeys use it for "nervous poos"
LOL sorry for the "toilet" humour

Papahotchie...........your post made me laugh!!! One other think I hate is filling hay racks, no matter how far back and stand and how much effort I put into throwing, half the wedges of hay end up on head............more so when Im late and in work clothes!!!! Dishwasher for the bits..........good tip have used it in the past,

My pet-hate is mucking out as well thrown muck on top of 20 feet high muck-heap!!! YUCK!! And riding brainless horses that take hours to sort it out then end up with sore bum and legs,LOL. My big pleasure is grooming and trimmimg a stuffy, dirty pony into Rolls Royce shiny looking pony or horse. If I am in bad mood - tack cleaning has help me a lot!!! SURPRISE- SURPRISE

Empting the wheelbarrow.............. miles away from yard through a slippery field, over the ditch (river in winter!!) then miles up the muck heap (ok not quite that bad but its not good either!!
Emptying the lorry loo and the waste tank from the sink in the living, uurrrrrggghh
Bathing filthy stallion, he can endup wearing enough dust and dirt in 12hrs that the rest of the yard manage in a week between them, oh and hates baths to!!!

My son once said if he had to fill another haynet he was giving up horses!!! We now have a haybar in every stable! Worth every penny of the £54.00 each that they cost! So easy to fill and clean and much better for horses back/neck/teeth than haynets.

Mine is anything to do with water in the winter. My hands are permanently blue (even in the summer!) and if anyone knows a good make of really warm but waterproof gloves would be very interested. Have tried the rubber gloves over thermal gloves routine but doesn't work for me.

I must be one of those strange people who likes cleaning tack! I do hate the cold weather though, I too have permanently cold hands, and have recently discovered this was a symptom of an underactive thyroid. So perhaps nikki you ought to get yourself checked out. The job I do hate is sweeping especially on a windy day.
