I was a spectator at the show and found the whole show a complete shambles, there were some very un-happy competitors. There seemed to be many last minute judge changes and also classes being held for other competitors to fnish classes they had just started.
Im glad i didnt bother entering this year with there fees riseing, classes also seemed down on entries perhaps everyone had the same idea as me.
well done to everyone placed

Thought it would be better supported with moving it. Think people tend to go to Chaps Champs. If BSPA was more central and a date more than a week before Chaps Oh and cheaper people would supoort it.

I think the fact classes at chaps are £12 and BSPA £25 has a lot to do with it sadly.

Thanks all. Buf was fab and had a great time - shame we missed out on the big one but there you go! Think BSPA need to give next year some serious thought, Addington is fantastic and should be a brilliant venue for them but they really do need to think about how they treat the paying public. Holding a class to let somebody go and do another class when the class they go to only has them in it seems a no brainer to me but hey ho! They changed judges without any announcement whcih didn't effect us but could have and think the charges were OTT for entry fees. Simple is always best, BSPA, please have fewer classes of the same type and make your schedule easier to understand, I haven't got a PHD in studying them which is what I think we all felt we needed!

Well done to everyone! I would also agree with the above, I could not believe how low entries were some classes had no entries! They sure need to think things over for next year, perhaps a time table they stick to and maybe a judges list they stick to and not double book judges to judge classes at the same time! Dont think we shall be returning next year! chaps all the way

I would have liked to have gone to this show, but they took so long with my passport overstamping it the qualifiers in my area had passed!
In a way glad I didn't. Please BSPA, this is constructive, could you name the judges for your classes in advance of the show like all other shows do. I have connections with certain judges due to one of my horses being produced, and I cannot justify travelling 260 miles to a show to find I cannot compete if my producers are on your general list of judges booked to attend and end up doing my classes with my other ponies.

Is it allowed that a pony can go in both traditional ridden and native ridden. Surely they are one or the other

unfortunately unable to compete this year but still attended has a spectator,in one class i saw the ride judge swapping ponies around in places where he wanted them this was happping whilst the judging of the confirmation was still going on. also the royal international judge was changed at the last minute even though judge was still on site.i may be wrong but i am sure the ride judge wasnt qualified enough to judge this qualifier.i would like to know.in all the years i have been going to bspa shows i have never known them to be has bad has this .come on bspa listen to your members .

I totally agree with you! I had to take the schedule to bed every night for a week before I got my head round it!! Friends of mine were Supreme Coldblood In-hand and didn't realise they were eligible for the Grand Champion of Champions and subsequently missed it completely, shame when they would have stood a very good chance. Stabling fees were astronomical £40.00 per night, then someone told me they had rang Addington and been given a duration fee of £65.00!!!! BSPA get your act together or you'll be losing out big time to CHAPS

i did,nt go this year, have been every year for 12 years, but as a staunch supporter of bspa i,m worried how things are going, are we on a down hill slope!!i hope not. such a shame, but bspa champs have never really feel like a proper championship show, they could make so much more of it,and must be dissapointing for what are mainly grass roots members, which i am!with fees through the roof now.it,s got to pull itself back together again looking at the pics it look so empty !! come bspa, listen to your members and sort your act out or lose out to chaps!!which i don,t want to see!!

addington is fab place,i love it there and was really exicited that bspa had gone back there and i hope they stay there!! yes you do need a degree to work out the schedule takes years of practise:) i really hope next year things go better, but for alot of people 25 pound per class is quite alot of money esp when you have alot to choose from class wise!

i hope low numbers this year are just a one off and numbers are up again next year!!
