Really disappointed with CHAPS. I sponsered a class in memory of my mum, did not receive my sponsers pack, my shavings for my stables were supposedly delivered and werent there when we arrived, had stables away from the sponsers area and couldnt find anywhere to hook up. Cost £400 without entries or even getting there so I wont be sponsering here next year but will find somewhere else to sponser a class instead. you should of complained to chaps! thats a disgrace..

Perhaps Topcat, you should get the full story before assuming CHAPS treated a sponsor badly ( and no i dont represent CHAPS in any way apart form being a member) Also, you have only replied to 1 post, which you would have had to search for, maybe you are just trying to caue trouble CHAPS are not to blame for you not finding hook up, that is down to Arena Uk, as is your shavings not arriving.Arena UK have a limited amount of permanant boxes and being involved with a colt, a filly and a gelding who were in the temporarys, but sponsors temporary area, i was more than happy- and clearly the chair was too, as i was stabled several along from her daughters ponies (these stables had no lights, were temporary, and on a car park! )but BSPS which altogether a much bigger show has huge amounts of money putforward for sponsoring had used these stables only the week before. What class did you sponsor out of interest dsmum?what an amazing package, £400 I only sponsor the Hopgarden Breeders challenge, but do it so that the home bred/owned/produced have their own class, and compete against mixed types, it is in memory of my darling H. Mr Tarquin who broke his leg, and there is a lovely trophy presented to the champion to mark this, and as ive had a wonderful 10 years in CHAPS, to give something back

dsmum what a shame you did not get your package, did no one give you one when you arrived. Do you mind me asking what sponsorship was £400 as we sponsored a ring and that was £325.00 which I think is exellent value and I thought that was the most expensive package they did, it is also our first year but we thought it was good value for money and the stables were much cheaper than the BSPS the week before. Good luck at HOYS with Doulton hope you have a nicer time there.

Topcat, I think as Lils said, the fact you haven't posted before was an indication that perhaps you were out to cause trouble ( as has happened on other threads before now). CHAPS tried very hard to run the champs this year, with very little help and I for one thought it was a great sucess.

i had a great time and thought CHAPS did tremendously well.
my only worry was the tarpaulin on stable rooves blowing in wind but it just means my youngster is now tarpaulin proof!!! and that was nothing to do with CHAPS.
I thought it was well run and well organised and looking forward to next year
well done CHAPS

Come on ladies, lets not be so hasty to judge. I myself have nothing to do with CHAPs or their show. However if I had sponsered a class I would have expected a little bit of special treatment. If CHAPs can't offer this then they shouldn't take sponsorship. While I understand how difficult it can be to organise such a large show, a society should maybe consider paying staff to make sure the whole event runs smoothly, and not rely on unpaid helpers. I'm sure the whole idea of any organisation is to make sure that all the members enjoy a championship show, if this then costs a little extra, surely it's better to spend a bit more to achieve this rather than improving a society's bank balance? Would members rather have more of their membership money spent on the show? Or see it sitting on the balance sheet of the yearly accounts? This is just MHO, so no trigger happy fingers people!

Hoping that is the end of that nonsense - remember that these forums can be interpreted all out of proportion so think guys before jumping on the written word. xx
2009 was my first chaps champs, i found it well run, we were kept informed all day about classes/times etc and had a thoroughly enjoyable and unexpectedly sucessful weekend!
I for one would like to thank Hopgarden for sponsoring the breeders challenge, me and my boy stood 2nd in the 2yro class and felt privelidged to do so given the variety and quality of youngsters in the class.
Looking forward to doing a few more chaps shows next year :-)
