I went to watch the northwest champs evening performance ..have to say that I think they shuld stick to 6 going thou and not 10 as you than hav 4 who r just stood there ...at least if you do it like most shows were 6 go thou they no that they are going to get placed.... were as there the poor buggers who didn't get placed cud have gone home .........Oh I hav something else to say about the judging but dont hav time got to go..... watch this space...... If your in a m/m young stock class go thou to the evenin performance and get a good placing.... the person who sponsored that class didn't get placed...( why sponsor your classes ) ?....but then got 2nd in the open and beat the ones that were above them in the young stock class? If it wasn't good enough to get placed in the young stock class it sud'nt have been placed in the open as the competition was strong in both classes.......and the silly boy who was running his horse around like a idiot and not caring about other ponies/horses when waiting in the collecting ring shud have been made to leav the ring ........

So are they not placing to 10 then and do the top 10 definately go through. My nipper has a new (young) first ridden I thought we might take out before we start winter quals.

But they do have very, VERY nice top 10 rossettes to the 4 who don't get placed. Especially with the size of the classes, it is an achievement to ride in the evening knowing you are in the top 10 atleast!

So who goes through to the Supreme then - is it the top two out of each class, or the class winners only?

I got into the top ten with my young horse and said i wanted top ten and not placed as i wanted her to experience the noise etc without having to come forward. My gelding got through and not placed but good experience for his new handler - being placed may have been too much. Loved the show. I think only class winners went through. Other pony we took won and was reserve and they told us no reserve sashes.

Sorry but I think 10 to go thou is to many and it shud stay at 6 ....my friend got thou and did very well ..but another friend didn't and they cud have taken their youngest home...as its a long day ......For a club the rosettes were better then HOYS and most county shows..........and the entry fees weren't to bad..........

It used to be a riding club championship show but the last 2 years (I think), they have made it an open show.
I believe that this year, the opening up has really raised the standard so yes, top 10 is a real achievement!
