Why is it that some of the major shows still have very limited stabling?? I'm quite keen to go the the New Forest and Hants show but have just read in the schedule that onsite stabling is reserved solely for showjumpers, heavy horses, coach horses and scurry ponies. It is a long way for us, and we would have been going for the duration, but I refuse to go backwards and forwards to the showground everyday!! Am I being unreasonable? Or does anyone else share my views on this??

If I were you I would phone the New Forest show office, they may be able to put you in contact with people nearby who can offer stabling.

Doldy - there is a list of stabling places, away from the showground, in the schedule, but just a faff having to go backwards and forwards for 3 days. Even if there was limited stabling, it would be better, but the fact there is NO stabling. Why do showjumpers etc get priority anyway?!? Obviously they must be more important..

They do it to try to keep the travellers out due to the massive problems in recent years. They could enter a show class and hence get stabling, bit more difficult to do with showjumping classes and more expensive. The majority of the stabling is fairly close and alot quieter than being on a county showground which is better for the ponies!
