The turnout was great .......... they were running about 2 hours behind. There were over 30 in the novice horses and I know all of the classes were well supported. I didnt stay and watch the evening but it was a good day and pretty sure with the support they had that it will run for sure next year

The turnout was fantastic!! there were huge numbers in the classes, over 30 in the novice over 14.2 and 20+ in the novice M&M. It was great to see the open classes well supported too 16 in the open over 14.2hh My o/h 5yr old horse went clear in both the novice and the open and just missed the top ten in the novice but got to do his first evening performance ever and behaved perfectly in the open class. It was a very strong class and the judge made some fantastic comments about our baby boy. My o/h also rode my 5yr old in the Novice M&M (i was going to ride but had a riding injury on sat so thanks northwest champs for letting me change rider) He also went clear and got to experance his first evening performance and behaved like the little star he is. I am so made up with both of the boys for getting into the top ten with such huge turn out in the classes and holding there own againt some stunning working hunter horses and ponies. What a great end to there first season ;D Just wanted to add that the collecing ring was run to perfection! it is so lovely to see order in what is so often at other shows chaos. The top ten rosettes are stunning. They are the best rosettes we have ever had the pleasure to accept, and how lovely that everyone gets a medal just for having a go! Over all a very enjoyable well run show that we will be returning to next year! I just hope next year I get to ride . Thank you Nothwest Champs ;D ;D

The team at the Northwest Champs were in awe to say the least at the turn out for the workers you came out and conquered our belief that there are no working hunters out there anymore and in the judges words the quality was something really quite special. So too were all the competitors, althought we ran rather a lot later than expected not one single soul came and complained to us everyone was so patient and polite to us making a very hetic busy day a total pleasure to cope with a massive thank you to all of you for that. Somehow I think the working hunter classes will be on again next year, thank you so much to all who attended. The results will be on the website soon, unfortunately the lady who does the website it in hospital at the moment but I will try and get a full list of results and post them on here if I can. I do know the Supreme was the big chestnut that won the novice over 14.2 and the reserve went to Cottrell Amaretto winner of the open M&M's.

Well done Lucy and Biscuit Also want to say a HUGE well done to Philippa and Harri who won the novice workers. Harri is a star of the future and you thoroughly deserve your success. Just shows that time, patience and hard work pays off. ;D ;D ,

I attended the above event to watch a relative competing and was also pleased to see a good turnout for these classes with some quality animals attending. Good atmostphere and overall good organisation. However, I and those I asked the question to, could not understand the reasoning as to why the heights had been divided at 14.2hh Surely if there only had to be two height divisions because of the previous year's poor turnout, it would have been much fairer on the competitors to do this at 15hh and then jump, as they did with the M & M's, within the society height divisions of 13hh, 14hh & 15hh. I felt very sorry for what would be the usual open 15hh class, where half were competing in the under 14.2hh and the other with the horses. Two young girls inparticular looked as white as a sheet entering the ring, but I was really pleased to see one on a dun, that jumped a brillliant round , to which even the judge applauded, receive a final placing- surely one to watch on the BSPS circuit for the future. In my eyes she would have been higher, especially as the commentator was telling us what the judge had said she was looking for. I only have one negative comment really and that was that altthough the collecting ring was very well organised, courtesy on the part of the steward would be appreciated , as after all we are the clients and to pay an entry fee to be bawled and shouted at, isn't good business practice for enticing clients to return - my personal opinon I don't know if others will agree.

cheekychimp, your posting reminded me of a funny tale ... a few years ago when UK Showing was @ Myerscough, my 14yr old daughter's classes clashed so she asked and was granted class swap from ridden class into working hunter class for horses exc 15hds ... she was riding her 13.2 Welsh C and after an unfortunate pole down, she was 3rd on her pony amongst the big guys ... the organisers breathed a sigh of relief when they realised that had she not had a pole, she would have been 1st or 2nd and in the evening championship ~ daughter and pony wouldnt have minded but the spectators would've wondered what on earth was going on with pony strutting his stuff with the horses! Love you Roddi (Fauldshope Rhodri) wherever you are ~ hope you have a lovely home and sorry we have lost track of you now
